okay i just sold my p4p800-D and got another IC7 and a 2.4c.

before i open the box i want to know if i got a good batch so i can still return this to the store without having to pay restocking fee -just in case..

P4 2.4c
FPO/BATCH #: L310A675 (1.525V)
Version #: C30333-002
Pack Date: 04/29/03

any ideas pls...

Our chips are identical down to pack date but mine's an L310A673. It's happily doing 3.3mhz right now at default vcore.

okay preliminary testing-i can load windows at 3.6 (300 FSB) but prime95 errors after 2 minutes.. 3dmark2001 runs halfway...im using intel stock with AS3.. (i sold my zalman )im using 3:2 ratio.. do you think i have a chance to get a stable 3.6 if im going to buy pair of better DDR and SLK900 or should i start using watercooling.im thinking of getting a KOOLANCE CASE with WATERCOOLING ...i need some coaching pls...

Hmm... I guess that depends. Try to see if your RAM will do 200MHz FSB 1:1. Then if it will, it'll most likely do 300MHz FSB 3:2 as well. What voltages are you running? And how are your temps?

I think you got a golden chip there. Even booting into Windows at 3.6GHz and stock HSF is amazing! :wack:

EDIT: In either case, I'd suggest just getting some aircooling. A SLK-800U/900U would go a long ways in cooling the chip better.

my DDRs have been tested up to DDR450 using 3.1 volts, DDR430+ using 2.85 when i had my p4p800. my PSU (enermax 550W feels so hot ( 2 optical drives, 1 radeon 9800 and 5 HDDs)..
is it worth replacing the NB with a bigger cooler? i havent had an slk900 -what CFM do you suggest for a nice noise/performance?

sweet overclock dude! where'd you get the golden chip at?

Add vcore voltage if you didn't already from 1.525 to 1.575 and if that isn't enought try 1.6V.Also relax your memory timings to something like 2.5/3/3/7 or 2.5/4/4/8 and keep teh memory at 3:2 for now until you find the limit of your chip.I Have the same chip L310A675  .That is a good pack date and so is L309 and some of the newer pack dates rock also.

so far im happy-was able to finish 3dmark2001SE at 3.5GHz (292 FSB/2-2-2-5 DDR390) ..i finally got beyond 20K (20,007 marks)..
im using my good ole alpha 8942 while being undecided as to which kind of cooling im gonna use next...

**mysteryman- i got this chip from a computer show here in michigan. i paid a little bit more ($205) but i think it's worth it..:)

**lastride- im using 1.675vcore..ill try to lower it later..

:)

nice!

me running 3.5 @ 1.65 volts... so you're doin' well!

my board finally comes today! yay!!!

then i will test out my geil gold dragon :)

and try to run 292 and the 5:4 divider making my ram at 234 :) instead of 195 with the 3:2 divider :) yay!!!

hopefully this gold dragon will do well on my ic7... i couldn't get it to pass in dual channel mode on my nf7-s

Nice o/c Jojo!:yummy:

EDIT: I've got a ThermalTake 90mm fan on my SLK-900U and it cool very well and it's not too loud.

okay i did prime95 (2 instances) for 24 hrs it's rock stable at 3.3ghz (275 fsb) at 1.6V. 3.4 needs 1.7volts.. i think i need a golden hand more than i need a golden chip..:( ..
only prime 95 would fail at 3.5, 3dmark2001 & 2003 would run ok.

im waiting for another IC7 & 2.4c from newegg. they should be here tomorrow..

another thing, why is it that when i had a vapochill before, i could run my 3.0b @ 3.5 using only 1.6vcore but same chip would need 1.75vcore to run stably at 3.5??? any ideas???

Yes, well these chips seems not to need much vcore to run at higher speeds. Seems like above 1.6V, you really don't get much if any more overclocking room. I guess it just gets to the land of diminishing returns a lot faster than say the XP2500+ are.
