View Full Version : HowTo: download ie6sp1 for later installation

INSTRUCTIONS
1) download the ie6setup.exe (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=42706&area=search&ordinal=1) from MS to a new dir called C:\ie6sp1
2) in the run command box type in
"C:\ie6sp1\ie6setup.exe" /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E" ...with quotes
http://home.comcast.net/~d2rook/pics/ie6sp1run.gif
3) choose your OS(es) and download the files to your C:\ie6sp1 dir
http://home.comcast.net/~d2rook/pics/ie6sp1.gif
4) to run the local files just click the ie6setup.exe

That is a great little trick :D
Do you now if that will work with other MS updates?
Perfect timing. I was just thinking about burning a clean install disk with all the updated drivers and apps...etc etc.

just a little somethin i picked up on the net ;)
dont let the screenshot scare you ~ for individual OSes its only like a 11-18mb download.

i don't worry about the sizes...i have CABLE now...avg 200kb/s...much faster than A$$DSL

Dude! This totally sucks. I could've used this trick yesterday to help out my friend with dial-up who needed IE6 on his Win98 machine for his Metasoft Client Database Program to work. I searched google for like an hour for key terms such as "IE6sp1 redistributable" and NOTHING came up. Grrrrrrrrrrr!!! Nice job though. I will always check bleedinedge "FIRST" from now on. :wave:

Are you sure this still works? I've tried it a couple of times with the newer versions and it didn't work.
I mean, can you verify this works? ;)
