Well, ordered my parts..should have it in a few days..

DFI Lan Party, 875P board
2.6C RETAIL chip
SLK-800u heatsink

Ill be reusing these parts from my P4G8X:>

4x512mb sticks of XMS3500c2PT
Leadtek A280 Ti4200, 128mb
Maxtor 160gb IDE (till a Raptor replaces it)

LiteOn DVD burner
Sony CDRW
LiteOn CDRom

It was a hard decision between the IC7-G and this board and a 2.4C..but the last review (posted in another thread) swayed me..
Im just hoping to hit maybe 225-240fsb, hence the 2.6C

-wheres that "how much have you spent" thread!:chit:

Guess Il have to do some lapping as well to the P4 and the SLK :deviltail

Wow... 2GB of RAM huh?

Hopefully the OEM will overclock as well as the Retail. I've heard people saying that OEM P4Cs have not been doing well.

And keep us updated! :D

Now wait minute! I'm interested in the Matrox P650. You are not alone. :) However, I did just sold my last Matrox card. :( I need to find out if the P650 will work in Linux because three of my four boxes are now running on Linux. The fourth is my wife's computer more so than mine. Matrox provides drivers for Red Hat but I will not switch to Red Hat just for a video card.

PC2700? I thought you are running KHX PC3000.

ThugsRook

there is no such thing as pc3000.
just like there is no such thing as pc3500.

I agree. I was wondering what you meant by "PC2700".

From what I see, most memory is made from either 6 ns or 5 ns ram chips. Most ram "sold as" PC2700, 3000, 3200 uses 6ns chips. Most ram "sold as" PC3500, 3700 and 4000 uses 5 ns chips. The 3700 and 4000 stuff just has really terrible SPD timings to get higher clock speed and a 3700 - 4000 label.

If you do the math,
6ns = PC2700
5ns = PC3200

It's all overclocked from there.

If that is the case, I am also running PC2700 since Corsair XMS 3200C2 r1.1 also use 6 ns chips. So do quite a few others.

So, everyone is really either running 6ns or 5ns ram of some sort.

Except for the TwinMOS PC3700 which uses their 4.3ns RAM...

ThugsRook

aida32 will tell you exactly what your memory is (motherboard/spd = 6ns pc2700)

Well, I recently reattached the IHS on my 2.6c COSTA and traded it for a 2.4B~SL6RZ.......

Heres that I had for the setup and the benches i n 3dMark2001se #330

Heres the 2.6c:>
13998--45.23 @ 290x601 (2.6c @ 1.60v, 255fsb, 5:4, 2-3-3-6, no PAT)
13604--45.53 @ 275x575 (2.6c @ 1.60v, 255fsb, 5:4, 2-3-3-6, no PAT)

Heres the 2.4b:>
13606--45.33 @ 285x601 (2.4b @ 1.60v, 180fsb, 1:1, 2-3-3-6, with PAT)
13986--45.33 @ 285x601 (2.4b @ 1.60v, 180fsb, 1:1, 2-2-2-6, with PAT)

The @2-- x 5-- is the vid card overclock..

ThugsRook
09-21-2003, 10:41 PM
interesting.

and dont forget the 2.4b doesnt have HT, so its even keeping up at a disadvantage. (prolly from the faster cas 1:1 and PAT)
