If you are asking yourself this very question, this article will provide you some insight on the technology differences, and furthermore makes a comparaison on the performance and heat dissipation of an Athlon 3500+ Newcastle versus Winchester.

I will have my review done soon on these two chips as well. My findings are very similiar. My suggestion: if you have a 939, it is not worth the hassle to upgrade. If you are looking to get a new rig, get the Winchester.

Thanks for the link BB_One (finally managed to get through to read it!). Confirms all that I'm hearing - 10% lower temperatures, more possiblity to O/C, and importantly a lower TDP down from 89w to 67w - this is a big and worthwhile jump - compared to what happened with the preschott.
This should allow AMD to scale nicely, and hopefully we're in for a very good year next year.
