I just installed my new OCZ 600watt PSU yesterday and it smoked my system bad :( I put my old power supply back in and my video card is reporting power problems and the system won't even boot if I have my CD and DVD-ROM drives plugged in :beat: I'm going to just send it back and pray for a refund. I don't even want a replacement after the damage it's caused.

ouch gitdat, did you test the psu by itself before installing it ? i.e. short green/black ATX connector to startup psu by itself for a test run first ?

I don't know any other way of powering on the power supply without plugging it into the motherboard itself. I've just plugged in all sorts of cheap power supplies and never had a problem like this. I figured with this "high quality" OCZ PSU I could plug it in and not have any problems. Boy was I wrong :( I plugged my 6800 Ultra OC into another computer and it was reporting the same low power warning. I'm testing the motherboard next with a different video card to see what else is toast :beat:

I'm having problems with mine as well. I plug everything in and go to start it up and nothing. A brief flash of light and nothing. Put my old psu in and everything works fine.

I believe steve said in another thread a lot of the 600w psu's were damaged during shipping. Would explain why newegg took them off their site. Should be easy enough to rma it tho.

Shipping my butt.. lol. It's starting to sound like these puppies are just plain defective. I only upgraded my PSU in anticipation of possibly going SLI on some NVIDIA video cards. I guess I should've just left well-enough alone :( From what I've found so far it toasted my DVD drive CD drive and my 6800 Ultra :(

Did you pm any of the OCZ guys for help. I have always found their support excellent.

Holy **** man.... similar thing happened to me. So I had a similar problem like everyone else.... the PSU would start for a split second... and then it would just go off. I tried it on two different boards.

Then... I read a suggestion that I should unplug all cables, take out the battery, clear CMOS, and see if it turns on with just the PSU connector and Videocard on.... fair enough it did. So I reattach all the cables.... and right when I turn it on.... I hear a pop from the PSU.... my CD-rom drive no longer works (the drive is slow... and its not recognized)... the system won't turn on at all anymore.... and I was using my brand new 6800 Ultra PCI-EXPRESS as well (which unfortunately I have no other PCI-E system to test with). WTF is that. Anyways.... I don't know what to do.

Wow, I can't believe OCZ would put out such a crappy product. These hardware failures via being zapped by their power supply I'm sure are adding up. This thing was only released a few days ago too. Is OCZ going to pay for me to have the hardware replaced that their PSU toasted? Good question :irk:
