This should be an interesting comparison and I look forward to the results. :thumb:

interesting indeed, DFI NF3 is awesome i must say :D

and hotcpu another interest app :)

might try realstorm 2004 benchmark too - guaranteed to tax your cpu hehe http://www.realstorm.com/benchmark.html

The RealStorm Benchmark 2004 is a software rendering benchmark which will measure the performance of your pc-system. Processor speed, memory speed, cache type/size and mainboard chipset will have big effect on the performance of your system. This benchmark is NOT for comparing the speed of your 3D-accelerator, as it won't use it at all.

thanks eva... will give it a go as well... :)

Just wondering if you got your's yet, shim. I got mine today and I'm kinda disappointed... I can't get it past 2.2 GHz... I'm not sure if it's the CPU that's limiting me, or the motherboard (Chaintech VNF3-250). I'm thinking it's the motherboard because I'm hitting a wall at 2.2 GHz, which is also around 245-250 MHz HTT.
I've tried setting the HTT ratio to 3X and that doesn't have any effect. I've tried running my RAM at different speeds and that doesn't help. I can POST and boot Windows at 245x9, but Prime 95 errors... 240x9 is stable. I tried 250x8 and that'll boot but it's not stable.

So I'm thinking it's the motherboard since I'm at 2.16 Ghz on 1.5 volts and raising it to 1.65 doesn't help at all. I tried increasing VDDQ and that doesn't seem to have any effect on stability either.

Got mine today too! :)
but i have an exam tomorrow so I haven't had a chance to stick it in.

I need to finish all my benches though with the 3000+ before I can give the 3100+ a chance...

hmm.. are you using a sata drive? i know that with some of the boards including the dfi that if you use the external controller that you'll be limited in your o/c...

do you have a pata drive? might be worth it to switch them out and give it a go... or use a pci SATA card like i am for my raptors...

also... am i gonna have to take a 10000 screenshots of all the benches or will a simple table comparing the 3100+ and 3000+ suffice? after my 2400+ @ 2.9 thread was flamed by all those people... i dunno if it's worth even posting numbers especially without screenshots... ugh...

sigh...

time to study

All the testing I was doing was with a PATA drive... but I typically use all SATA. I had it stable at 240x9 then I stuck a SATA drive in and it won't work. So I guess I'm not going to be able to overclock at all with this motherboard.
Post scores for the 3100+ whenever you get a chance, I'll be interested to see what one can do with a good motherboard. You don't have to bother screen shotting everything... those who think you're lying don't deserve to be proven wrong.

thanks jeff!

this will be a week long project of mine :)

exam ends tomorrow so I'll try to run as many of the 3000+ tests as I can and then do the 3100+ tests during the weekend and next week.

this should be fun! :)

it`s not a matter of thinking the person is lying, at all. Just posting the screenshots, or a screenshot or two will give others a look at the settings, voltages, memory timings being used, bench results ect that may help them with their set-up. A pic is worth a thousand words....and I`d like to see the run down and side-by-side comparission between these two chips as would pleanty of others too.
Looking forward to seeing them.

Did you see the remarks in the other thread he was talking about? Some noob flat out called him a liar.

Yes screenshots help to show settings and whatnot, and I'm sure shim will provide some. But there's no reason he has to screenshot EVERY single test result and EVERY single setting. Next someone will be asking him to use a video camera and video tape himself installing the CPU and then running the benchmarks to make sure it REALLY is the CPU he says it is.

haha, I don`t think it`ll come to that.

..but i`m buying a video camera just in case! ;)

Doom 3? I thought I heard the shadows are done by the CPU, so a super fast CPU should increase performance quite a bit.

Another that might be interesting and isn't really a common method of benchmarking... use Windows' calculator and find the Sin of 4^1500 and see how long it takes. I let it go on mine for 20 minutes before I had to stop it to do something else.
