Good question, how much further can the sound card technology be pushed for the average consumer. Also with some of the on-board solutions getting better, will we even need an add-in card in the future?

they would be a lot of inovation happening in the sound market if creative didn't buy up all the competion

The Audigy 4 pro has just been released, and reviewers say theres not much difference when compared to the audugy 2.

I have to agree with what Rotorhead said, how much more can be added to a sound card? Sound has nearly reached a peak for the time being, so therefore, if you buy a Audigy 2 or 4 you should be good for a long while, easily outlasting any video card.

I was under the impression that the only "new" feature of the audigy4 is a higher Signal to noise ratio - basically something that wouldn't come in handy unless you were using the card to drive really really loud sounds or have some super sensitive speakers - only then would you be able to take benefit of the improved quality that such a card might provide at such volumes.

OK. Thanks for the responses. :thumb:

I decided to get the Audigy 2 zs Platinum.

Any tips on taking out/removing my SoundBlaster Live! Platinum card from my P4P800 deluxe and replacing it with the SoundBlaster Audigy 2 zs Platinum? There are things I might like to keep from the Live! Platinum card installation like the PlayCenter 2 because I like the LAVA Player and its dancing AI and light shows. Or is there something better with the Audigy 2 zs?
