I have an IS7 and want to fit an MCX4000.

How do you remove the stock frame from the mobo without damaging it ? The plastic frame that is.

I seem to remember rendering my P4B533 one useless when I fitted an Alpha to it.

flat head screwdriver under the white peg caps ~ twist
pull out all 4 of those white locking pegs
push frame out from rear of board

HTH :)

make sure those swifty standoffs are nice and snug when installing

Like thugs says. After you get the pegs out you need to pinch the feet coming out from the back of the mobo to push them through.

Cheers fellas...........I wus trying to push the white pegs instead of pulling them:blush:

No damage done. I want to keep the retention mechanism in one piece in case I have to ebay the IS7 and get an IC7

:p

BTW Thugs, that little test you did with the MCX4000 has been very helpfull.

I've got a 92mm M1A.....hope it won't be too loud.

IC7 has the tightest 4 white pegs of any board I've used.. it was very hard to get those pegs out of the retention bracket!

i agree ~ but if you were using a HSF that uses the retention mech, that would be a good thing ;)

Those pegs were tight.I thought I was going to snap 1 or 2 pulling them out.Trying to raise them just enough so you can pull them out was a biatch.
