Ok gave up on the 939 solution so it's back to initial plans 754 !
DFI Lanparty UT 250GB is the way I am going with Athlon64 3400+ Newcastle
I need some info on what people are utilizing for air cooling, I was thinking of Zalman 7000 Cu, but I am not sure if it will fit and if all the nuts and bolts are there..specially the back plate.
Should I forget that solution and go with Thermalright xp-90 and if so does it come with all required mounting hardware (less the fan of course)?
Or does a DFI UT 250G owner has something better in mind/installed?
Sadly googling not been much help on this.
PS: Do I plan to oc? you bet as far as I can push it on air.
BB_One , I can confirm the mammoth Thermalright XP120 fits on the DFI UT NF3 250GB without issue. It needs to be the "K8" version to have the adapter plate for the AMD chip. ;)

Jim, have you have had any problems with that configuration fitting into a case? Looks like it might have problems with the power supply.

Holy smoke...mammoth u say? U ain't kidding are you! :yikes:
What brand name of 120 MM Fan is that? A Delta? crap if it is must be loud as hell?
Been surfing around boards since this post and did see comments / reference to this 120 even on DFI street. Never did see such a clear pic of it however. And actually nor seated inside a case, so like Rotorhead I kind of have similar concerns.
Wonder how much cooler it get's versus the xp-90? (I'll go to Thermalright see if i can find any stats.)
Damm this is huge.... :yikes:
PS: NooB clarification on the way the fan sit's, it's blowing right? not sucking? LOL...Thermalright call it the Goliath...geeezzz I can't get over the size of this monster
PPS: Just reading reviews and frankly probably will go for this model will check my tower tomorrow I don't think I'kll have a space issue. One thing however FAN control/monitoring I suspect that it connects directly to the power supply not the motherboard, so how does one obtain control ( although I plan to leave full blast all time). But more importantly how does one obtain monitoring info?
Gene , the picture is a little misleading due to the angle. The HSF assy doesn't even reach the edge of the mobo due to the chip being situated low on the mobo. There's actually more room on this setup than there was with an AN7 and a Thermalright SP97 between the HSF and the PSU.
BB_One , that's a Panaflo 120MM fan, and indeed it is blowing. Haven't had time to compare it to a stock HSF but will soon.

Ahhh.....A picture is worth a thousand words. :thumb:
hehe....It kind of makes that 80mm exhaust fan look a little inadequate. :look:

Oppsssie added a PPS to previous post, guess we criss-crossed in posting. Right blowing ....did find 4 reviews if u are interested . Does show with a YS fan and in a P4 environment serious cooling close to water level as they say, mind u it throws 105 CFM as oppose to the panaflo which is about 83 or 103 depending on model.

Well that one is taken care of ..ThermalRight XP-120 and YS 120 MM x 2 ..on it's way. :thumb:
Hopefully soon the backlog on DFI boards will clear up and one will get to me,lol. :o
Thank you Jim for input, pics and recommandation

from what ive read the the improvement by using the xp-120 is negligable from using slk-948u "1-3 degrees" the xp-120 ...is lighter but the slk-948u is smaller.. ill be purchasing one within the week so ill provide temps @ that time.......using lapped stock cooling.....right now

Jim , Eva2000 or owners of this DFI. Small doubt/question in my mind.
Does the board bios rely on the cpu fan connector to detect the presence / rpm of the cpu fan? And if it does not detect it refuses to boot? The 120 MM fan I am getting does not have rpm monitoring and will not plug on that header (4 pins fan) ~ problem on horizon or I am OK?
Reading the manual and no reference to that at all....only reference to temperature monitoring of cpu during boot process and for that I am assuming it is querying the cpu directly.

such a thing can be disabled in bios, my old soyo kt400 board has a monitior that beeps like hell if no fan it can monitor is attached to the cpu fan hook up. so i need to just attach a fan it recogonizes then get in and disable it to use the fan i want.

Yes it will boot up. I'm using a Panaflo FBA12G12L1A (http://www.panasonic.com/industrial/appliance/pdf/fba12g.pdf) which has no RPM sensor. One of the attractions I think of the Thermalright XP120 is the ability to use a large, quiet fan. The Panaflo pumps 68.9CFM at 30 decibels. The noisiest fan in my case is now on my 6800. :wpleased:

Thank you all for your response and eliminating a concern. Jim yes the panaflo nice fan i was trying to get the same but the L1B model which does have rpm monitoring however they are extremely rare it seems. :irk:
So I went YS for shear brute power of 105 CFM...obviously noise will be coming along with it. :yikes:
So getting a Sunbeam reohstat. :chit:
Again thank you all for your time. :rotflmao:

what high speed fan would you guys recomend for daily use? as during the day my proc runs over 50C because F@H keeps it maxed out all the time. btw, would a 80mm or a 92mm be better on a sp-97 heatsink?
