At looooong last, i finally raised the $$$ to fund my monitor purchase and my final choices are these 2 nice monitors:
12ms (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-338&depa=0&manufactory=BROWSE) or 16ms (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/ProductDetail.aspx?sku=320-1578&c=us&l=en&cs=19&category_id=5194&first=true)
im gonna use the monitor for gaming, DV to DVD conversion, some Photo Editing and for watching TV ...

If nothing more ...gaming and lcd ...ummm.....response time of the lcd is a must hence 12 ms.
However, tip of the day .....lcd market is crumbling and manufacturer stuck with huge amounts of inventory.
It's not selling due to new technology coming up ( a year or so ), and the price gouging they are asking for LCD.
My recommandation and that is a personal one, don't buy an LCD yet (if u must buy an LCD)...wait 3 months or so ...you'll save mucho dineros ! The $699.00 price you looking at now...will easily be around the $499.00 if forecast is accurate. BenQ a major supplier of LCD is in deep doo doo with LCD and starting to dump them at manufacturer cost just to empty it's taiwanese warehouses. Samsung selling below manufacturer cost and getting hammered in Europe for dumping products ( illegal to do that ).
So they should hit the market soon.
Various quotes:
"The Times said that Benq wants to get rid of as many as 200,000 LCD units as a result of slow market demand. It also wants to be the leader of the LCD pack - and has cut its prices from around 15 to 20 per cent, even for the high ticket 17-inch parts."
"LCD TV AND MONITOR prices are set to fall much faster than previously forecasted, according to market research firm DisplaySearch."
If u do go that route, remember the response time is critical 12ms...seems pretty good.
Personally I would throw that kind of money right now on a good 22 inch CRT!
Sorry if I have dissapointed you, I know what it is to save for a dream toy and getting comments like this one is frankly a party pooper.
PS: Perfect example off what I am referring to ...YOUR LINK to DELL....look at the price it dropped seriously and it ain't over yet!

You might , if you have not yet, read a similar thread from Skully...look towards the end there is a post about a cable issue of sort at times.
Just so you know and in case you encounter a similar problem you will know what it is.
