command line window here is a super simple thing to do yourself though....just go into "file associations" in the windows explorer and associate folder or file folder (forget which one...but it only "allows" you on one of them) to have a Open CMD window option with "cmd.exe" being the program.

i cant believe no one has mentioned this one yet!

Virtual Desktop Manager
Manage up to four desktops from the Windows taskbar with this PowerToy.

This is SO cool!! You get four desktop windows like a Unix/Linux desktop! This is something that has always been sorely lacking in a Microsoft desktop environment. It should have been there YEARS ago!

Thanks!

Here is a shot of the preview mode that shows all 4 desktops at once. Each can have its own wallpaper. Apps can be shared on all desktops or not shared. The 4 green buttons in the tray are how you switch desktops. You can't run the mouse off the edge of the screen and go to the next desktop link Linux, but its pretty good still.

Edit...I guess the pic is too big to post

can you "zoom in" on a certain dtop?
ill have to play around with the NV manager and see what it could do.
i hope its not buggy ;)

No. The priewview just shows a snapshot of all 4 desktops. Clicking on one will make it active. You an also switch with hotkeys or with the taskbar buttons. Not as nice as a Linux setup, but pretty good. Glad to FINALLY see it in a MS OS.

That's there now? That sounds awesome. I used to love that on the solaris systems at school.

I tried to install it and got an error. Hmmm...
