Hey flex is the 5950 comparable to a 9800 pro ? also you are running a 5:4 Ratio that will make a difference also.

Does anyone know why FM adds comments such at this one? And what does it take for them to approve the drivers?
Driver Status WHQL - Not FM Approved
Each driver goes through a review process to make sure there are no optimizations. Generally Futuremark will not give its total blessing until a driver has received WHQL approval. But FM has decided the 8.07 ATI driver can be used in 3DMark05 and the score will count, even though the project comparison sheet will show "Not FM Approved." If FM decides to give final approval to the 8.07 driver, all the scores will be taken down and people will have to bench again with the same driver. I know it's confusing, but that's the way FM works.

It is low - you should be over 5000 I think. Are you using the latest catalyst drivers , as this will give you a big boost. Example on my 6800gt - 4600 old drivers 5600 new drivers.
7000 was with a v big O/Clock, unless you are packing dry ic/cascade cooling etc, your are not going to see that sort of score! - about 5500-6000 would be nice.
glorfy
11-05-2004, 05:07 AM
Pcbuster you are using the wrong drivers - they are for the 9000 series get catalyst 4.9+ from here (http://download.guru3d.com/ati/)

Going to try the 4.10 (ATi Radeon Catalyst 4.10 (CCC)) for my 9600xt. I think the last update I tried was 4.4 so hopefully this version I will see an improvement over my 1200 score  .
Killer Munkey
11-05-2004, 08:34 AM
i use the 4.10 driver and i'm probably going to drop down to the 4.8 drivers cause the 4.10s don't run call of duty :( but they are otherwise stable
Pointhore
11-05-2004, 08:42 AM
Try the 8.07's ( you can get them at Guru3d.com) they work really nice and they have the memory fix in them. The 4.10's do not have the memory fix, hence the lower scores in 3Dmark.

Okay. I'm downloading the 8.07Beta (don't see a final version).
Any recommended cleaner that will go through the registry and clean every driver off? Driver Cleaner?
BTW is there any real difference between ATi Catalyst and ATi Radeon Catalyst? I have a Sapphire Radeon 9600XT (128MB) which I am told is the same as a ATI Radeon 9600XT.
Pointhore
11-05-2004, 09:04 AM
Use the ATI uninstall tool built into the driver folder. It works well. If you have driver cleaner you can run that also.

That IS with the core only at 370 - I should be able to get 15%-20% more on that if I sort out my power issue - and that's with sucky cooling! I tell ya, the top card is 10C hotter than the bottom one, I'd hate to have an SLI MB that hasn't got the extra space of the Asus :yikes: These babies need to either be water cooled, or exhaust the heat directly out of the case - but I'm flat broke after spending the money on 2X6800GT's

I am surprised it is this low. Must have snafu'd the driver install :irk:

Snafu with the new equip! You got 'The Beast' in then I see? You should be scoring higher than that bud. Latest drivers? If it was AMD I would be saying have you installed AGP driver, but Intel I have no clue! Expecting to see you rocking soon!

Yeah I dumped in the 3.4C and x800 together last night. AMD and Intel are the same drivers. The drivers were from the CD. It was funny it seemed to keep looping through the install drivers. So I terminated it after about 3. Prolly too sleepy to realise what I was doing.
I need to get a good driver cleaner and reinstall the drivers. I have Catalyst 4.10 or ATI Catalyst drivers 8.07B. I think the later are the best but may not be the latest. I will have to go see.
Maybe Thugs can stop playing long enough to pipe in.

Last attempt until dry ice ...
I seem to be limited now. Expert Tool only goes upto 420/1300 and Coolbits will only lets me go 449/1230
By using a combination of the two I tested with 449/1300

Or am I correct, using both Expert Tool AND Coolbits to get the highest clock.
Can I increase the voltage to 1.6V with NibiTor since my load temps NEVER reach 50C?
Does anyone have a volt modified PNY bios to share?

I guess 6212 is my max for now ... until I do some bios and volt modding. Then I'll use chilled water and I bet I'll break 6,400

This score was attained on old setup:

2x512mb OCZ Plat Rev2@2.5-3-3-7(DDR540)
XT PE@560/590 using cat 5.2s with ait tray tool for OCing.
I'll probably vmod the XT tomorrow and see what I can get. I WANT 7k.
