Fable. Just want to say - THIS GAME IS AWESOME. Then again, I am partial to RPG's. Many reviews have slighted the game for being "too short", but that's because (I think) many reviewers probably had to blast through the thing to get to press with their review. Yes, if you just play the main story, you can rifle through it in a matter of days probably.

The beauty of this game, in my opinion, lies not ONLY in the main story quests (which are very cool and fun) but in the details, the side quests, the character building and all the lushness of the world in which you play (the graphics are righteous, it looks like you are playing in a very sophisticatedly illustrated childrens book). And there is even some gore, I shot a guys head clean off with my bow and arrow (man what a suprise that was). There is so much to do - fishing, get married, buy/rent houses, businesses, gamble, glutton, master magic, archery, swordsmanship, hand to hand combat, buy and sell goods for profit, dig for treasure, the list goes on. Another cool thing is you can develop ongoing traits, either good or evil as the game progresses - these traits, decisions you make, influence the way you look, and the outcome of things.

Anyway, I haven't finished it yet - so I will be honest and come back and report if I am disappointed with the ending or some other aspects...but for now - Fable gets  from the joeMan.

I'm enjoying the game too. I started off being good, but my character is slowly becoming more evil everytime I play it hehe.

A friend of mine is on the same track as you OCZJohn. He was a goodie, but now he has horns growing from his forehead and is called "Hell Spawn". He sent me a screenshot of his character flipping me off !!

Well my fiance has been waiting for this game for quite a while now... delays delays.. So this is a must buy?? I was going to treat her with it as a surprise. She is a RPG junky you could say! So buy or Rent??

Mr. Gaspar - I would say if she is an RPG junky - BUY. (especially since you used the term "junky"). Seriously, it's a winner. Too bad she can't choose between a male or female PC - the game forces you to be male, however, you CAN swoon and eventually marry a guy if you want to (pretty liberal, eh?)...

OCZJohn - I will send you that picture on a PM, but I can't figure out how to do an "attachement" to these BE PM's...can you give me some enlightenment please?...(or maybe I should just send it to your regular email address...?)

Well, I'm not even near finished with this game , but it's back to school time for me. I'm currently plowing through 16 units, but the quater ends mid December and I'll be back on Fable when I can...

The update is: In the game I've gotten married and have bought us a nice house in a little village. Also, I am tired of always choosing the "good" path, so lately I've been lashing out and doing some evil stuff - like committing random acts of violence...I know...terrible ain't it?... :deviltail :mischeif: ...
but my character hasn't grown horns yet.

You guys are certainly making console gaming sound much more appealing than it used to be, I haven't played any of the console games since the days of the early Nintendo...just PC games :yikes:

Paragon, I really have to say that my Xbox has been a pleasure for a couple of reasons:

1 - I love PC gaming for sure, however, the late night sessions of sitting upright in front of the monitor (even in my comfortable chair) do wear on me after awhile. So, it's nice to just shut down the beast and go kick it in the comfort of my bed in a semi-upright position with a few of my favorite pillows, a good set of headphones running through the stereo system (or TV - whatever) and just console game in 480p digital glory (I use the component ins on my Sony CRT FD WEGA Trinitron KV-32HS500; no horizontal lines!) However, even on a standard non-digital TV the Xbox looks great.

2 - Compared to other console game systems I've had and/or played on in the past (Nintendo 64, the original Sony Playstation, etc.) there is no comparison in the quality of the games. There is a very broad selection of Xbox games, and Xbox games are, for the most part, very good. Now there are some real lemons out there so you have to be careful, read reviews, and/or go to your preferred video store and rent to try before you buy. Some great ones for me have been:
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay - FPS/RPG
Links 2004 - Golf
Top Spin - Tennis
Madden 2005
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005
Fable - RPG
Sudeki - RPG
Amped2 - Snowboarding

Anyway, I wouldn't think twice if your thinking about getting one. Also, Xbox just got the LIVE license with EA Games, so all the titles that can go LIVE will go LIVE, like Madden, NBA, Tiger Woods, etc, you can go head to head with your friends, or strangers via a broadband connection from your Xbox to your router - sweeeet...
