Whenever I try to play BF1942 my CDROM will begin to load BF and then drop back to windows. With Raven Shield it doesn't detect both the CDROM or burner. The CDROM is a LiteOn 16X DVD 52X CD and the burner is TDK Velocd 24X 10x 40x.There is nothing wrong with the drives and they are not dirty. The LiteOn is basically new.I know about 60Hz refresh for BF42 and still don't work.I put a disk with some data I recorded and both work fine.I checked all cables.Anyone know what could be the problem?.

opps i thought most people here use "no-cd patches"...check gamecopyworld .:)
with BF1942 dropping back to windows, i remembered that happen to me when i was using REFORCE aka refresh rate fix..
With Raven Shield it doesn't detect both the CDROM or burner
--check the disk for scratches/dirt..another thing if youre using audigy sound card, did you install the DISK-DETECTOR? it's a program that comes with the original driver cd. having installed the said program messed up my drives' capability to detect some of the games that i put in my drives..

I use reforce also, but I never had a problem with it before for BF1942.I just set the refresh rate to 60Hz that it needs to run the game or it will crash to desktop like its doing now but it doen't work anymore. The Raven Shield not detected by my drives is weird.I noticed that windows update installed SP2 on my system and I run XP Pro:eek: .I see SP1a is out.I think this is the problem no doubt. Its funny, when I put a CD in my cdrom and go to my drive in my computer I see a symbol of BF1942.Doesn't matter what CD it is..LOL.I think I will reformat and use the SP1 I have on a CD.Windows update screwed up the install of SP1 and put sp2 on my rig.

tell you what, ive read in several forums that sp1 causes more trouble than help.. alot of ppl complained about sluggishness of their pc..I for one noticed that too..especially the explorer update, after installing it browsing seems less snappy..
thats why i dont bother to use the windows update ....i go to each hardware's (e.g. video card) website to update their drivers...i dont care for microsoft security patches either...
as time goes by, we slowly realize just how bloated XP is :(...
..if there's only a lean version....

winXP lite should be out by Xmas (i think)
same ppl that made win98 lite.
LastRide ~ is DMA enabled?
disconnect the slave drive and try again?
did you recently reassign your drive letters since the game was installed?
