I am looking for a free DVD codec which will allow me to view DVD's using Windows Media Player. My attempts to find one have resulted in umpteen media players, DVD rippers, and DVD copiers. I just want the codec.

Jeremy - fyi I edited your thread title and took out one of the hyphens - seems two hyphen in a row screws up page presentation in firefox. Hope you don't mind.

As far as the codec goes. I've got one and will post a link shortly.

Thanks sodface ... it works great.

I just learned that the ATI DVD codec is now offered as a standalone from the DVD element of ATI Multimedia Center. The latest version can be downloaded from the ATI website, however, you must have a valid Radeon installation CD to get access to the actual download. The resulting download will install just the codec. Great ... no crappy ATI software to worry about.
