How to run Quake3 Arena demo benchmark?

Been ages since i ran a Quake3 Arena demo benchmark forgot what tilde and commands to type :o

Start Quake 3 Arena - Bring down the console by pressing ~

Type in "timedemo 1" and press enter

Type in "demo q3crush" and press enter or on the Quake 3 menu select Demos then q3crush then play

The demo should then run for about 1.5 minutes in a some what speeded up fashion

At the end you will go back to the Quake 3 Menu. Bring down the console again and the last line shold read "1943 frames in x secs, y fps" the "y" there is the Frames Per Second rating, where higher is better. Anything above 20 FPS is quite playable for competitive gaming.

Type in "timedemo 0" and press enter to return the game back to normal speeds

Ahhh.. is there no bench you can just download... ? Do I actually have to get the game to bench it?

:rock: hmm seems this doesn't work with my quake3 arena demo :(

type in /demo 001 <enter>

after the playback is done hit the ~ key again

any chance you know if the UT2003 demo has a benchmark i can run ? :)

yes, UT2003 demo has a built in benchmark.exe program

:-) hmm that didn't even work... it use to though.. IIRC was certain version of quake3 arena demo that couldn't run the demo benchmarks ??

maybe i have the demo name wrong.

just type in the timedemo thing and playback whatever demo is in there.

How about

~
timedemo 1

Then <esc> back to the menu and launch the demo from the demo menu???
