I just went and spent 800 bucks for upgrades... including a powerful but affordable Athlon 64 3000+ ... I dont know if its Clawhammer or not...
but anyway... I also got Superalien X case by Aspire with 500wt powersupply... which is a P.O.S really (who the hell needs to control fan speeds?). Also a DVD +- RW ... I dont know the kind or speed but it was only 100 bucks and writes double layer. Also got a stick of DDR3200 512mb (64x64) Simpletech ram (I know not the corsair yall use but it was cheaper)
No new video card which blows because all I got now is Nvidia MX460 with 128mb... The sound card I have is adequate...

Got home threw it all together... took my time and took several breaks to stay patient... but I made sure everything was text book.
So then I turn it on... first error on the little led on the bottom... ( a period will account for seconds)
87..........9c..9e.9f<shutdown>

Now I could not figure that out... I did everything right... so I took it apart and did it all over...
Turn it on... same thing again...

Took it all apart and checked every pin, circuit.. you name it I looked at it at least two times. under and over the keyboard... the front of the case... the back... the power cables...
Everything...

No Post screen, no bios, nothing.,

So now I am looking for some help...
Might just take it back to the store at this point... but if there is anything I could do myself I would do it...
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks,
Brach

it could be either the mob or cpu.i have seen the same symptoms and error codes with a dead cpu but im sure it could happen with a 'bad' mobo. is there anyway you can borrow another cpu to test or test that cpu in a known working motherboard?
