Hi guys,I seen this mobo & it has a 865P chipset,I have been wondering if anybody has it & can it run a "C" P4 cpu in it ?
http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket478/p4p8x/overview.htm
It would be overclocking but it should be fine, after all the P4P-266 did run fine with a 533 cpu. :)
Just want to know if it's been done or should the guy just buy a P4P800 and pay the extra few $$.
I allready have a P4P800 this would be for a friend who want to build a new box.
Thanks.

Reminds me of my P4G8X granite bay board. Have not seen much on the P4P8X but I would still go with a canterwood board, however. IC7 or P4C800 Just my 2 cents.

yeah I know, but still.
since it's a 865 chipset I guess 800fsb shoulnt be a problem.
Since the price diference between it & a REAL 800 fsb P4P800 isnt much I guess I will recommend the P4P800.
I have seen it posted you can flash the bios for the p4p800 to this board.............you feeling brave?

I really think you should get at least a 865PE board. They're not much more expensive than the 865P board and will allow you to have much more freedom. (o/cing, whatever)
