Well finally got round to plugging in my brand new sparkly graphics card, only to be greeted by screens of corrupt text, followed by corrupt xp loading ... then a black screen.. hmmm i thought that's not quite the cutting edge graphics i'd imagined, so i reseated the card, and the same ... hmmm so i unplugged it and tried a geforce 3, works fine... but definatley not cutting edge... replaced gt and you guessed it ... corruption.. seeing an imerging pattern, i thought ah power maybe.... so i hooked up a seperate psu, just for the gt, and........ corrupt... $%!@#!! :beat:
So i fire a mail to techsupport, who helpfully say ... have you tried cleaning your drivers and flashing your card with the latest bios... whilst i was thinking more on the lines of the DDR3's are f**k'd.
So anyone know where i can get the bios for this card, to flash it. Or anyone have any useful suggestions, before I ring them up and RMA it.

Very possibly you're right about the DDR3, but just for grins and giggles got to Driver Heaven and get the latest driver cleaner and remove everything NVidia related and the reinstall the latest drivers and see what happens...I have read more times than not fo this being driver corruption...and yes I've also read your GF3 works fine; but many other people's earlier model cards did as well...You might even consider doing a fresh install:wave:
Also have you ever had any Radeon drivers on this board, there is a known issue with them presenting this type of corruption with the GF6 series of cards. Sorry I couldn't suggest a quicker easier fix for the problem, but I would definitely try this before I RMA'd the card.

www.nvidia.com should have the latest drivers (I think 61.77 of Jul-04 is the latest). Check with Galaxy to see if they have thier own drivers or if you can DL the ones from nVidia.
Not sure how you are suppose to load the latest driver onto the card if you cannot get your system running with the card in place  .

GURU3D has a WHQL release that is 65.73 I think. I used that and it seems better than the one in the Nvidia site. The install is different though, you have to go to Device manager and update the driver.

I really don't think its the drivers, the dos boot screen is corrupt , which hints towards the DDR3 ram being screwed or the BIOS. Trying to find the NVIDIA Reference BIOS, just to reflash the card, to see if it makes a difference, he says not holding out much hope.... The nvidia 6800 GT reference drivers appear to have disappeared off the face of the web.

I had already looked here, thanks.. but no galaxy bios and all reference bios seem to have been removed ? Oh well its going RMA for a refund, found out lots of people have had trouble with this card, and the website is in chinese, with no support to speak off, that'll teach me, should have stuck with my original choice which was an XFX so I'm gonna try and get one of those, but i do like the artic cooling on the galaxy.....
