i can't overclock at all on my soyo kt400 board because my AXP chip has it multiplier locked and i can't crank up the fsb because it throws the pci and agp frequency out of whack and i'm pretty sure a higher pci frequency can hurt my HDs.

the only option i see is a modded bios to give me a higher frequency divider so i can run a 200fsb. my board only gives me a 5 divider and i'd need a 6 divider in order to run 200fsb.........

so my question to anybody who has read this far, is getting and installing a modded bios worth the trouble if i'm trying to make my computer keep up with the newer games coming out and delay the purchase of new parts for the time being?

p.s. mucho thanks to any and all who reply to my cry for :help:

IMO, yes. They are worth the trouble. 2 things you may want to make sure of:
1) has it been tested by multiple people?
2) do you have another bios chip in case you have a bad flash or something goes wrong?

1. the only bios i've been able to find for my soyo board probably hasn't been tested by many, its been virtually tested by the guy who made it.

2. i don't have a extra bios chip. so i'm pretty screwed if things get corrupted

wish i had money to just get a cheap A64, then i could just overclock the fsb with the right board and mem.
