I just got back from a business trip in sunny San Diego where I got a cool freebie from the customer: an Iomega mini 64mb USB drive.

In my informal tests I was able to write a 42.1 MB file to the drive in just over a minute. (62.75 seconds)

Sandra test is below.

nice gadgets :D Guess that's a USB1.1 device and shouldn't it be in memory forum http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/forumdisplay.php3?s=&forumid=17 since it's actually a memory device ?

seems your device has fast delete performance :)

for a comparison with 2 other flash drive devices

Yes, it must be a 1.1 device, performs much slower than the ones you reviewed (which I didn't see until after I posted this :( ) I didn't know whether to put it here or in memory, I chose here as Iomega calls it a 'USB Drive'. I agree that it is more a memory device than a drive, however, it is designed to be used more like a drive than it is memory. CF and other flash memory mostly exist to be put into other devices like cameras and mp3 players - these usb sticks (not the memory in them) are designed for users to treat like a removable drive. Who knows:confused:

Thats cool!

I wonder if you could use it to boot up a router or somthing, heck even a PC.

Rotorhead -

This thing was collecting dust behind some empty diet coke cans on my desk - I finally saw it again tonight and decided to play with it a little. You CAN boot to it. I booted to a win98se cd-rom, ran fdisk and it shows up when you choose option 5 to change fixed disks. Fdisk will only allow you to have one active partition so I disabled IDE0 in the bios to temporarily disable my hard drive - rebooted to the CD and did a format /s C: (the usb stick shows up as drive C: ) then set 1st boot device to usb-hdd and it booted right up.

This may come in handy at some point as I don't have a floppy in this machine. Who knows where in my computer room this memory stick will migrate to by then though :)

hehe....thats what the key ring is for :p

A couple of those would work great in some dedicated Folding Machines :D
