using Abit IS7-E with 2.4C. Will be running with the following settings:
- vcore 1.65V
- FSB 200 up
- Ratio 1:1
- vdimm 2.5V up
- Manual setting of ram timing
- GAT setting all auto
- Dual Channel DDR
- HT Enabled
200FSB (cas2.5, 7-3-3, 2.5vdimm) - Passed Prime95 / SuperPI
205FSB (cas2.5, 7-3-3, 2.6vdimm) - Passed Prime95 / SuperPI
210FSB (cas2.5, 7-3-3, 2.65vdimm) - Passed Prime95 / SuperPI
215FSB (cas2.5, 7-3-3, 2.65vdimm) - Reset before boot into WinXP
215FSB (cas2.5, 7-3-3, 2.7vdimm) - Failed Prime95, Failed SuperPI
215FSB (cas2.5, 7-3-3, 2.8vdimm) - Failed Prime95, Passed SuperPI
215FSB (cas2.5, 8-4-4, 2.8vdimm) - Passed Prime95 / SuperPI
At this timing, its already running @ DDR430! Not too shabby, IMO. I was thinking, no harm trying 220FSB. Woah!
220FSB (cas2.5, 8-4-4, 2.8vdimm) - Passed Prime95 / SuperPI
221FSB (cas2.5, 8-4-4, 2.8vdimm) - Passed Prime95 / SuperPI
222FSB (cas2.5, 8-4-4, 2.8vdimm) - Passed Prime95 / SuperPI
223FSB (cas2.5, 8-4-4, 2.8vdimm) - Passed Prime95 / SuperPI
224FSB (cas2.5, 8-4-4, 2.8vdimm) - Passed Prime95 / SuperPI
Eventually, the ram failed prime95 after 5 min at 225FSB. But DDR448 is good enuff. Very.
Unfortunately, i am unable to switch to cas3. It simply refuse to boot. I am not sure if its the board or the fussy ram. cas2 isnt good either. No boot.
4 - Conclusion
This piece of gem is AMAZING!!!!! Even at dual channel mode and with the unstability of other ram modules i have tried with IS7-E, it nearly peaks at DDR450 at 2.8vdimm. Unfortunately, the highest vdimm IS7-E allows is 2.8V. I am sure if more voltage is fed to this monster, it will scream louder. The bad point of this ram is problems changing the cas rating. Nothing works other than cas2.5. Fortunately, the RAS, CAS latency can be adjusted.
I would recommend people who is in need of high FSB but not interested in agressive ram timings like cas2, 5-2-2. This ram might not be suitable for people who overclock via dimm timing. But it could be because of the BIOS. Thats pending investigation.
