Sweet, great thing about technology, it'll probably be $1000 in a year.

I have the 42 inch samsung led and the 50 inch samsung plasma.. Get the plasma. In most cases plasma is cheaper and the picture is SO much better than lcd...All i had for the first couple of years was LCD..After switching to plasma it made the LCD look like a CRT but flat...Plasma had a bad rap in the beginning because of burn in but the new ones have fixed that..Only downside to a plasma is it is a bit warmer...:chit:

Did you have a Samsung LED or LCD Lakeside? I am guessing these are a different breed altogether from what you had?

the 32 lcd was a 720 but the 42 was a 1080 and the 50 plasma is a 1080 and picture is much better.. Not just because of the size..The plasma has a noticeable picture improvement.. Not sure if that is all brands but I only have samsung to compare

you might want to go look at that TV.
that TV is NOT an LCD. it is a type of OLED. it is a new technology and even put a Pioneer Plasma to shame. both the blacks and Colors were much more Vibrant than the Pioneer.
Plasma's Main problem is their Power consumption. a 42" Plasma can draw up to 420W and 500W on a 50". the Max power draw on an 46" LCD is 250W. the TV you have is an LED backlighted LCD.
this LED TV draws 40% less power than a standard LCD. so it is drawing about 150W Max.
Since I repair TV's for a living, I cannot stand Plasma TV's. since I repair on average 1 LCD for every 5 plasma's.
But for Price, The Plasma is the better deal :)

I believe what you say about wattage because the plasma is so much hotter..Living in Fl one notices these things..Technology keeps changing and I had never heard of the LED TV.. When I purchased the 50inch samsung plasma I did it because of the picture. The picture to the untrained eye is a better picture than the LCD....I have only seen one Pioneer and it was great so to be better than that it must be great.. I have never had any problems with any of my samsungs (knock on wood) but can understand why the plasma could have problems because of the heat alone. The plasma is about 10 months old...I also have 2 32inch LCD's 1 42 inch LCD and the 50 plasma..All samsungs...My monitor is a 30 inch dell which I would guess is made by someone else other than Dell and I believe is a LCD...I look forward to seeing the LED...:yup:
