I've heard great things about the new BenQ. I have the older Viewsonic VX2000. :thumb:

I have the Viewsonic VP201S, seen here:
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=24-116-299&DEPA=0
and I love it. No ghosting. Runs games great. Far Cry. Call of Duty. Doom3. You name it.

One word of caution though, if you do get this monitor - DO NOT USE THE CABLE THAT VIEWSONIC SUPPLIES YOU...For whatever reason they package the lower resolution DVI-I cable, capable of only up to a certain range of resolutions NOT INCLUDING THE NATIVE 1600x1200 RESOLUTION OF THIS MONITOR! DOH!!

Spend the extra few bucks and buy one like the one seen on this page:
http://www.datapro.net/products/1142.html
It's a true DVI-D cable capable of all the range of higher resolutions for Flat panel monitors (or at least this one anyway). I got mine at Fry's Electronics.

Read more all about DVI cables and the differences it makes between getting the right cable or not (and all that kinda stuff) here:
http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html

Good Luck.

thx for the replies...the only thing thats stopping me from getting the 12ms samsung ($389) is that it doesnt have the DVI-D input..the next higher model to it which has dual input is about $100 more ($485) :(...

how about the sony? do you think it will be a good choice?

another follow up question: is there a significant difference between 12ms and 16ms?

I tried a Sony and promptly returned it and got the ViewSonic VP171b. The Sony did not seem right with the colors or the resolution did not look good-there was something about it that simply was not right. The VP171b was a huge improvement over the Sony. I hear good things about the BenQ monitors as well.

Jojo1971 -

I don't know how to answer your question as to the difference between 12ms response time vs. 16ms response time as I have never used (or even tried out) a 12ms Flat Panel Display, sorry man. I can, however, tell you that my VP201s at 16ms does a RIPPIN' fine job on anything I throw at it - no ghosting at all. I am running an X800XT PE (@ VP201s native rez of 1600x1200). Of course I never go above the 60Hz refresh rate that this monitor is designed for, but that is because on a flat panel such as this one there is no need to as it would be a waste. Also, this VP201s LCD Flat Panel @ 60Hz refresh DVI-D in, using the DVI-D out from the video card is completely free of the "flicker" experienced at lower refresh rates such as on CRT's. On my CRT's, I used to have to get the refresh up to 75Hz or preferably 85Hz to get rid of that annoying "flicker" and eye strain - not with the LCD Flat Panel, 60Hz is spec and it's just fine. So is 16ms response - no ghosts here.
