Guess maybe I don't totally understand people, I'm seeing the BFG 6800GT OC go for almost $600 on Ebay and the 6800 Ultra OC for around $100 more...I found a BFG 6800 GT today at my local Best Buy at the everyday retail price of $395...wonder if paying almost $200 more for a card to have it a few days sooner than the next guy will make it run any faster or perform any better.

In 30 days they'll be readily available everywhere at retail or below...this is the kinda of thing I've written about in several articles, and it still continues...In 60 to 90 days there'll probably be a new revision that everyone wishes they had waited for...Not really a rant, just an observation; what do you think?

I totally agree Hawk and that's what manufacturers count on when they release the first generation of a product that just might not be ready for primetime...I want the best and fastest I can afford but don't want to be sorry I didn't wait for a stable revision of the product...I've even seen it with Intel's mother boards only took them three revisions to get the D875PBZLK right and now it's a great mother board and even has adjustable Vdimm, a first for Intel :yikes:

Again it took three revisions, 17 BIOS iterations, and they invented the chipset :mischeif:

Although I am itching to have one (6800 or x800) I think I will wait until the next gen drops the prices down (only so much you can get away with before the other half stumbles accros the bills).

If I had access to one and it was needed for my living (ex. hardware reviews, or major graphic/video editing) then yeah I would jump all over one of each in a heartbeat. No doubt about this or any other new piece of hardware to test out (gotta keep up with the Jones' or people might stop listening).

I did see D3 for the first time today. Pretty impressive especially when it was being run on a 9800pro. Okay so not all the eye candy was turned up but it did look fairly impressive. I might shell out some bucks when the prices drop and get a 9800xt (or possibly a 9800pro and just mod it :D ).

If only my day job involved me needing one ( ) or my lottery numbers came in. Until then I will sit back and look on and be very green with envy for those lucky folks out there who have them.

I'm glad I got my pre-order of the card! ! ! I would have jumped right on EBay and paid that rediculous price for the latest and greatest also. I got lucky this time.

Sometimes I think EBay is like Vegas to people...they get a little carried away. :look:
Got my eVGA 6800 online for just $278.
