NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- After two weeks of contentious and often emotional debate, the federal government's far-reaching and historic plan to bail out the nation's financial system was signed into law by President Bush on Friday afternoon.
"By coming together on this legislation, we have acted boldly to prevent the crisis on Wall Street from becoming a crisis in communities across our country," Bush said less than an hour after the House voted 263 to 171 to pass the bill.

The bailout could restart bank lending or just delay the full market correction on over valued mortgages. All I really do know is that i'm gonna be renting for the next few years.:hide:

Yeah, I think mostly it will just push the problems over to the next administration - at least they'll have some time to think about what to do though.

Well, while that idea has many merits - it's not simple! But I'm an old fashion, let go back to the gold standard kind of guy.

could be like whats done with man made diamonds, used for drill bits, glass, tile and stone cutting blades, diamond cutting too =) etc. if we had man made gold electronics would be cheaper, allot of gold is used in that area.
not everything is a conspiracy, if it was we would ALL be in on it. after all THEY are pll too

It was one of those sales perks to pump up third party "top performers" to encourage them to keep selling AIG products. My sister-in-law is a top sales manager (in another company), these thing happen at least every year.

Even if I could go anywhere in the world, I still could not spend 440,000USD on a vacation... going on a vacation payed for by the taxpayers is one thing after we just bailed em out... but a $440,000 vacation is slapping us in the face
My point was two-fold
1. These events are usually pre-planned well in advance.
2. AIG needs to do this to keep revenue coming in - it's just part of the game.

Here's a way to pump them up: "keep selling or we go under and you have no income"
