it will install on Win98se without hacking it, but doesnt run.

im no programer ~ but i have come to the conclusion that Doom3 could run on Win9x if they wanted it to.

looking thru the PK4 files (zip files) i noticed the file game00.pk4 contains the OS dll and its config (txt) file. you guessed it, the only dll in that PK4 is for Win2K/XP.
in the config file i can see the options for mac-ppc and linux-x86, but those are set for "no".

im gonna assume that all they need to do is writeup a dll for Win9x and it will run. maybe itll need a new .exe too at most.

then again, i could be wrong ;)

actually, im one of those ppl that plain just cant stand XP....
i was dual booting 98/2k in order to play the game while waiting for the right info (hex edit info) to be posted somewhere so i can make the file.

im still dual booting to make some benchmark comparisons. both OSes run the game very well.

There is no need to go thru all the MSI stuff...

Just run setup with the /a parameter... let it put the files in some location and run the game.

Or use the NoCD...
