I have a small question as to what is the highest and safest voltage i can run on my air cooled 2600Xp. the reason i ask this is i want to be able to achieve prime95 stability with high fsb and cpu frequency

my rig currently sits prime stable at 209 fsb with a vcore of 1.93 (cpu-z reads vcore at 1.88-1.92 volts)

cpu temperature under load sits at 51.5 degrees celcius, idle temperature is 45 degrees celcius

system specs
Abit NF7-S version 2
Geil DDR433 512Mb dual channel kit
cpu stepping and manufacture date is AQYHA 2004 week 6
Heatsink is a Globalwin CAK4 86T (delta fan replaced with a 37cfm evercool)

voltages
VDIMM 2.9
VCORE 1.93
Chipset 1.7 (maximum setting)

i have considered flashing the bios with the modded one that disbles CPC but
i don't wish to lose system performance as this is also my gaming rig

any comments would be appreciated

i think your temps are fine especially for the voltage you are using...

keep it at where it is :)

getting a better hsf may help with your temps a bit..

also you have to remember that the abit boards report temps a bit hotter than most other manufacturers...

i have a thermalright SLK900A arriving hopefully tomorrow along with a coolermaster musketeer (only got this for the temp probe and for monitoring the voltage supply to the fans) the temp readings i gave was from abit eq monitoring software. also i had set the shutdown temp to 57 degrees celcius for some peace of mind. AFAIK the danger zone is around 80 degrees celcius or something like that. just not used to running high voltage on my cpu as i havent really done above 205 fsb before. also what time periods are these temps and voltages safe for? is it only recommended to run at high cpu voltage for short periods e.g benchmarking etc. apologies for the n00b sounding questions but as i said i am only new to high fsb overclocking.

high fsb overclocking shouldn't be that much different that high clock overclocking...

:)

with th slk900a, your temps will be fine with the voltages you will be using...

stick with 1.93 volts... you'll see your temps drop some (2 maybe 3 degrees)...

when i had my axp on air, i ran it at 2.6 ghz @ 1.95 volts with temps hovering in the 53-57C range

thanks for that info shimmishim it is much appreciated. hopefully the SLK900A will arrive tomorrow then i will look at going 1.95 volts and see how high i can get with successful benchmarks

I am guessing this is not the Mobile? I also have a 2600+ but it is a mobile. Currently I am sitting at @2.55 Mhz 1.8 v, 223 fsb. I have an SP-97 installed with a 90 mm TT fan pushing @58 cfm, and it never gets above 50 C.

unfortunately my cpu is not a mobile :(. and also i can not seem to get 3d mark to run without crashing to desktop as soon as i hit the benchmark button at an fsb speed of 1.95 volts i might try it at 2.0volts when the memory benchmark contest starts again just for the memstat test only
