Creating SVCD CD's from a DVD with subtitiles... howto?

Ok, I know there is linkage to a dozen of sites here but maybe you guys could give a few quick pointers to how I should go about ripping a DVD to SVCD's WITH subtitles... I'm clueless since I was messing with some subtitle tools last week and it started with asking me to type in letters I saw on the screen (from OCR I gather). Is this how it works, through OCR?? I thought subtitles were stored on a seperate stream.

Yeah, I know doom9. Been browsing their site for years now but never really read into it. Just used it to get the tools when I need them. I know there are a lot of other sites too but I don't have the time to dig thru tons of faqs and ho-to's to get something done. So I thought maybe someone could give me a couple of quick hints and pointers (besides links that is :) ).

I usually never read any manuals, faqs or anything since it is more fun to find it out for yourself but I'm having more trouble with the subtiteling.

Ok, I played around with DVD2SVCD and got it cooking.... Had around 7 gb on my partition free so I figured "must be enough" so I let it run overnight... Came back to my system this morning and one of the tasks was stalled at 39%.. WTF!! It just ate up 7 gb.. Could have known since the actual rip took around 5 gb and it needs a LOT of temp files (sound, ac3 etcc)...

Anyway, I'll give it another try tonight on my second rig with around 30gb free on a partition.. Should be enough, right?? :)

And now you see the reason why I say that three disks are useful for this stuff. :) However, two of the disks are completely clean for just video encoding. I actually use 4 disks for my system.
1) System OS and programs (IDE0, master)
2) AV1 (ICH5)
3) AV2 (ICH5)
4) Pagefile and backup (IDE0, slave)

Yeah, I wish. But you have some cruel hardware bud!! I'm sure I can't afford/justify getting a 3rd rig..

hey subzero as many hdd's as you show in your sig. And as large as they are how the hell is it you don't have enpugh space for doing DVD work?

--why not go dvd all the way and use DVD DECRYPTER and DVD Shrink?...
