I have a 10,000 rpm SATA raptor from western digital.
When I look in hard disk info in 3d mark 03 it list the name as
Promise 1+0 Stripe/RAID0 SCSI Disk Device
Interface Type SCSI
is this correct?
I would have thought that it would have listed as a SATA drive.
This is the only drive I have, I am not running in any raid config just a single drive.
I ran series of benches using the Fresh Diagnoses program and my average write speed was 14.18mb/s. Western digitals site list my drive should average
4.5ms. Bottom line their was 7200 rpm drives beating my score.
This is my system
AMD 3800+ socket 939
asus av8 (up to date bios)
1g corsair 3200xlt 2-2-2-5
geforce 6800 gt (BFG)
74g raptor Western Digital 10,000 rpm
Help!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Tuesday is my day off and I plan to call western digital and see what can be done. But if i can get help before then that would be wonderful.

well i read somehwere that the onboard sata on amd chipsets really blows as of right now. maybe a pci sata card would help?

but its probly something other than that that is causing you problems, so i dont know.

make sure the promise raid is disabled in the bios

Whew!
When I disabled the promise raid in the bios in did not detect a hard drive on the computer. Luckily i could get back in the bios and chang it back. Scared me!!!!!!
Called western dig and they said everything is normal. That how my motherboard reads the drive and everything is fine.
Ran aquamark3 and my score was 64,345 is this any good. Everything on my system is stock.

Looking at your earlier post where you said you are only using the one drive, then to me you have it plugged in the wrong sata port. I too use the same board as you, and i DO have the raid controller disabled.
What it looks like to me is you have your one HD plugged in the raid controller, and it really needs to be in either sata1 or sata2, which are the top 2 sata ports as you look at the board.
What you are actually using is sata_raid1 or sata_raid2.
Move the plug, disable the raid controller and all will be well.
This must be the case, as you have said when you disable the raid, it does not see your hd.
Hope this helps.

my 80gig seagate also registers as a scsi device (using a ata-sata adaptor that came with my board) so this could very well be normal like what the guys at western digital have said. from what i have been told a sata drive is a pata drive that has had the sata connector put in place of the ata connector (correct me if i am wrong).

hi, I've got 6x 74 gig raptors on my asus striker extreme. the problem is when i try run vista on them they only run in PIO mode. No matter what i do i cant get tham back to UDMA like i had them in xp.
I've tried updating bios,
i've tried raid and single drives,
i've also tried contacting WD (with no luck)

anybody got any ideas ?
