Been testing this pair of dual channel 256MB Geil Golden Dragon and it's pretty good. Only weird thing is that memtest gives me errors in test #4 when ras to cas delay is set to 3 instead of 4. Never had a stick of memory error in test #4 due to timings before in the past always had been cpu speed/vcore related.

max i've been able to get on

2.8C
PX865PE PRO2 1.02 beta bios

2x 256MB GEIL Golden Dragon
max = 245mhz 2.5-4-3-7 at 2.85v
(after 16+ hrs of testing memtest86 test 4 and 5)

Wow, such a large difference just by switching the CAS to RAS delay is 4 instead of 3??! I'm especially looking at the Sandra Unbuffered results.

BTW, the RAM seems pretty good! :D

What's the price like compared to the OCZ gold?

eva2000

price in Australia

2x 256MB OCZ PC3700 Gold = AUD$400
2x 256MB GEIL PC3700 Golden Dragon = AUD$315

compared to

2x 256MB Kingston HyperX PC3500 = AUD$240
2x 256MB Corsair XMS3700 = AUD$350
2x 256MB GEIL PC3500 Ultra Dual channel = AUD$260

i managed to get the GEIL PC3700 to 2.5-3-3-7 by upping vAGP from 1.5v to 1.6v so have to retest :)

Also installed my 2.4C on my IC7 now and have a pair of Gigacube 9600PRO/PRO VIVO cards for them which arrived today :)

The OCZ's are giving you some nice througput. :yummy:

I can the OCZ 3700's to run DDR500 w/ 2-3-3-6-8 (MAX at those timings) 2.85V
Can you try yours at that setting and see what you get also? ? ?

i just got this memory

any reason why you only ran tests #4 and #5 on memtest?

cuz 4 and 5 pases... it's test 6 that is causing problems...

edit:

back fsb down to 217 to test it at 2-3-3-6 and passes test 6....

do you think if it fails on my nf7-s that it will also fail on my abit ic7 when i get it???

i'll be able to try 233 mhz @ 2.5-3-3-7 when i get my new board (if abit decides to send me one that is)

OCZ is designed for springdale canterwood.
your results will be very different on your IC7.

board won't post at 233 mhz...

cuz of the crappy chipset voltage...

i will try it out on my ic7 next monday when it arrives ! :)

interesting.. i just for the first time put my 2x 256MB GEIL PC3700 Golden Dragon dual channel memory in my IC7 and it does one thing my OCZ PC3700 Gold can't on IC7 and that's run GAT at Turbo with Cycle Time at Enhanced @233mhz 2.5-3-3-7 at 2.8v!

OCZ PC3700 Gold can only run with GAT = AUTO and Cycle Time = AUTO

in memtest86 both OCZ PC3700 Gold @233mhz 2-3-3-7 and GEIL PC3700 GD @ 233mhz 2.5-3-3-7 in memtest86 report 2485MB/s bandwidth when GAT = AUTO

with GEIL PC3700 @233mhz 2.5-3-3-7 with GAT = TURBO and cycle time = Enhanced, in memtest86 bandwidth reported is 2544MB/s

but GEIL PC3700 unlike OCZ PC3700 Gold, can't do 250mhz 1:1 - GEIL PC3700 seems to be fine upto 246-248mhz 2.5-4-4-7 at 2.8v (2.76v real) on IC7 while OCZ 3700 Gold can do upto 255mhz 2.5-4-4-7 at 2.8v on IC7

well..

these sticks suck in my nf7-s

error after error when running dual channel but fine indivdiually...

ic7 on monday! :)
