What ever happened to this?

Did they can it?
They couldnt build it cheap enough?
Importing problems?
Cooling performance problems?

All of the above?

I am going to nominate this thing for a vaporware award.

This is what "Tony" had to say about it yesterday on another forum....

you know guys i am as frustrated as you are....we are still setting up the ability to buy thru the pcpower and cooling site as far as I know. I am pushing to get this done but CEBIT is 2 weeks away and cryo-z is not high on the priority list...especially for the engineers to test.

Its going to be slow yes, we have a lot of units to go thru before we pass them for sale so its just a question of it will happen soon but I can not fix a date to it.

We may also have some units that require rework for sale, leaks dents scratches etc...these may be sold cheaper with no warranty and will be defaced maybe so that no warranty claim against OCZ can be made later.

So any phase builders looking for spares may have just what they need.

Just to reasure you we do have more than 10 units, a lot more but we have to test every one of them one at a time to make sure they are ok to ship out.

Now i have been as honest as I can be, i will continue to push to get these units on sale for you asap.

I think the comment about "a lot more than 10" was in response to some clown who was claiming they only had 10 units ;)

I hope the Cryo-Z does pop up and is a good deal. I was planning for it to be my first experiment with sub-zero temps on OCin test rigs.

Yeah, I was hoping to jump into the sub temps also.
Watercooling didnt impress me much at all (except for gpu cooling. That kicked arse!).

I am wondering if sub-cooling will get me more than 200mhz oc on my fx-60.

:yikes:

Where is your local store located?

Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
Wonder if this could extend my fx-60's life?
Or would prolly be better going E8600 anyway ?

I sure hope those specs are wrong on that site...

Specification
AC Input: 110V
Compressor: ZEL GQY70AD
Refrigerant: R-507
Max Stable Load: 120W
Idle, 0W: -40 to -55 C
Dimensions (DxWxH): 18.0in x 8.2in x 10.1 in

Weight: 26 kg/ 50.6 lbs

That 120w max load wont' cut it, they will be in for a bigger nightmare than Vapochill was when quads came out and the Vapo was good for 200w.

I hope this unit gets more people involved in phase change.... but I hope it doesn't turn them off if it doesn't meet their expectations. If those specs above are wrong, and they almost have to be, and the unit will hold 200w then it will be a good success.

the 120W rating is correct.

I myself for some reason thought it was higher than that.

For the life of me I can't understand what OCZ was thinking :coocoo:

Guys... that unit was designed, spec'd, ordered, etc 2.5+ years ago. Quads were not out back then.

It is not a benchers phase change, it is entry level.

It runs a 45nm Dual Core really well, I benched with it and put some stuff up at XS. I also did some testing with a 65nm Quad.
