My doctor has me on short term disability a while ago. November 7, to be exact. I was and still am having issues breathing. He, and all the other docs I've seen all think it's sinus related, but nothing they do seems to work.
This, however, isn't about my illness or about my doctors, but rather about the short term disability insurance I have. They SUCK! I know insurance companies in general don't want to give you YOUR money, but this one, Prudential, has gone above and beyond the call of duty. They NEVER get anything my doctor's send them. Sometimes it's faxed in 3 or 4 times before they get it. My doctor's office has even stayed on the phone with them until they received the fax. Of course the next time I talk to my case manager they "didn't receive anything" from my doctor. :beat: My doc sent in the initial forms on 3 separate occassions. They only received them the last time, and there was a clerical error with th start dated listed as the 16th, when it was the 6th. My doctor faxed a letter over correcting this (this was the time they stayed on the phone with them.) So, they got this letter. How do I know they got this letter? Because the date was subsequently changed on my FMLA, who gets the information directly from the short term disability company (Prudential). Now Prudential is saying they never received this letter with the corrected start date! Umm, yes you did, and you even forwarded that info onward to someone else.
So, now I know they're completely full of it. Thanks for the extra stress Prudential, just what I need to ensure a speedy recovery! Oh, and thanks for not giving me my money! Fortunately I've been able to pay bills up until now with what I had in reserve, and the money I've made selling some of my old pc parts (Thanks SG! :chit:). Wednesday when my Doc opens I'm going to get everything they've sent to Prudential, and make copies and sent it certified mail. I'm also contemplating driving the 2-3 hours to Philadelphia and videotaping me handing them the documents. I really don't know what else to do at this point...
Oh, also, I've spoke with some people I work with about this, and I'm not the only one they're giving a hard time to. One of the IT guys was diagnosed with Leukemia. He's out getting a full course of chemo and they're giving him the same runaround they're giving me! :yikes: Un f'n believable.
