The Zalman 7000AlCu heat sink arrived with a small tube of thremal grease. I am not sure if I should use thre grease that came with the heat sink or if I should use another grease. I am looking at Arctic Silver 5 and/or Arctic Alumina thermal paste.

the as5 and the as-ceramique are the best for me

I would give it a try, but If your temps are a little higher then normal, I would pick up some AS5. :thumb:

Test (http://www.lostcircuits.com/advice/carbon_black/)
Here they did a test with serveral different thermal compounds. AS Ceramique out performed them all. I personally use ceramique and I can tell you this stuff works. It takes less time for it to dissipate equally. All the website says is a minimum of 25 hours. Where as AS5 takes at least 200 hour.
I use it on everything from NB to video card. I have seen a drastic drop in temps, usually about 5 to 10 degrees celsius.

I agree with what the other posters have said. AS5 or Creamique.

And me also. . . . :thumb: If you are doing any water or phase cooling, I'd lean more towards the Creamique. . .

Thanks for the pointers :thumb:

The creamique was available at my e-tailer but had a fear that I could have some problems getting the heat sink off once the stuff sets. Any problems experienced with the creamique or any of the others?

When I was using a Zalman 7000Cu with Creamique, I discovered that even though Creamique did not harden up, it did make the HSF stick very well to the proc. A simple little clockwise twist released the HSF from the proc. :)

Whew! Glad to hear that ceramique does not harden like its name.

Looks like I'm off to get me some ceramique :thumb: .

I agree with pointreyes as it tends to form a suction to the bottom of the HS. No hardening in this stuff and cleans off in a jiff usually 3 q-tips will clean proc and HS. (with 99% Iso of course.)
