I just bought my 2.4C and DFI PS83-BL motherboard and cpu combo from fry's yesterday. It was a sweeet deal, only $229 for the 800fsb cpu and an awesome springboard mobo. Any idea how high I can get that cpu? What memory should I use, I don't want anything too expensive. Will PC2700 Kingston HyperX be ok?

You should try to get at least PC3200. Have a look at this RAM
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=Buffalo+PC3700+256MB
That's good RAM and is pretty cheap. Get 2x256MB or if you need a GB, you'll need to get the 512MB version.
Edit: As for overclocking, that depends on your heatsink fan, CPU and some luck.

that is cheap for that speed, but will it hold up against high heat? will i need heat spreaders for it? will that stuff do dual channel?

No you don't need heatspreaders.:)
Those are the Winbond BH-5 chips which do well overclocking in Dual Channel, but the new Buffalo newegg's getting are the CH-5 which have problems overclocking on the Intel DC boards. So get these while they're still around!

but if I buy one stick of that stuff, and later i want one more, will i be able to use the two sticks together assuming the new chips are now in use?
also, they're CAS 3, i'd rather something at CAS 2 and also, no mobo supports ddr466 yet

It is CAS 3 but at DDR466. They'll usually run CAS2 at DDR400 and most likely higher. If you give it 2.8-3.0V vdimm, it'll do 430+ at CAS2.
It's really great RAM, it uses the BH-5 chips that corsair uses in their XMS series.
Also, I'd suggest getting 2 sticks to run dual channel. That's what the new Intel boards are designed to be good at!

yes i am! actually i am already at 3ghz. it runs very nicely as in the article. i'm going to install my zalman heat sink soon and hopefully go even higher. the ram i'm using right now is pretty bad. noname chips so hopefully i can get some of that buffalo stuff and install it. sure i will give you guys updates and wcpuid screen shots. it is a sweet deal. i'd recommend it anyway because you can sell the motherboard for $90 making the cpu only like $140. That's a very good price for the 2.4C. Well after hearing about the "performance" bios. I was tempted to give this combo a try. Thanks!

:D Wow what a great deal! :D
Damn Canada and having nothing like that :(
But yeah, seems like the mobo/CPU are holding up pretty well. Are you still at stock voltages?

You should find out first what your CPU is capable of overclocking and downclocking your ram using 3:2 ratio 2.5/3/3/7 timings or less.My 2.4C will run 3.4GHz about 456DDR at 5:4 ratio. If you can get your CPU that high you will want some ram that is capable of handling that speed, preferrably with tighter timings like cas 2.So you would need better ram in this case.I use OCZ Gold but its expensive. You might want to find some other cheaper ram like 3500 (466 DDR) or 3200 that can reach between 450-460.See what your CPU's limit is first. If 3GHz is all your CPU can do you might want to think about running 1:1 250 FSB DDR 500 and in this case you will need the OCZ Gold 3700 (466) or the new 4000 OCZ (DDR500) that just come out.The 3700 OCZ Gold will do 500 DDR at cas 2.5.The reason I don't run 1:1 is that 280FSB at 5:4 is a little better faster since I can reach those speeds. At 1:1 250 FSB is not that far behind even though its 30 FSB less.
