Hi all

I am trying to squeeze an extra notch out of my clock speeds of my graphic card. :irk: Something we all try I am sure, but I am pondering switching to water in a hope that I can up my cards clock speed a level or two. One notch up would be just peachy for now. So the question is: will water cooling provide sufficient assistance to overclocking the card to warrant the effort?

Card in question is a 8800 Ultra (stock).

With the HD2900XT I was certainly able to increase clocks - from 874 right up to a stable 982, but that was with a software tool that allowed voltage increase to the core.

Do you plan on Vmods? I think I gained about 30-40mhz going to water and while on water vmodded an additional 80-90 mhz. I can't say for sure how subzero water will work.

Thanks harleybro one notch up will be a fine result for going onto water. Now I just have to see how to fit a Maze4 water-block onto the Ultra.

As to vmods - I am seriously thinking about that but will test them out (with a third hand GTX I can get) first.

You'd want to go with a 1 piece ram heatsink like harleybro's as well. :thumb:

Definately you will need to sink the items on the card. Good point Ol' Norton. If you don't use or can't find the single one then the lergest sinks you can find. Even if it is so large one sink covers multiple mem chips. ;)
