Hunting for single card 18K 3DMark 06

Well last night was my first go with a frozen GTX and 06. I geared up with full mods to my mobo. (Vcore, vcpu pll, vmch, vsb) (I'll try to remember to take a pic tonight, it looks like spaghetti on top of my mobo :rotflmao: )Time will tell what will come in handy. I had broke 17,004 (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=2576594) with the card on water. I was hoping on running my Q6600 above 4.5 but don't think it will happen. One problem is for some reason the read on my PLL mod isn't working so I didn't want to guess and adjust the trimmer. :fire: This weekend I was dying to bench so I started digging through old tubes I had made when I benched the X850. One I had tried in the past was simpley a maze4 water block bazed to a hole and extension in a pipe(trying to find the pic of it). This is the set up that killed my last GTX so I was afraid to use it again. I came up with another that I may have tried once back in the day. Due to the shape it was difficult to get dice down to the base. It basically consisted of a 3/8" thick base. (I may have drilled some divots into the inside of the base) then I took a 2" copper elbow and brazed it in place. The tube originally had a 10" extension off the top to allow extra dice but it had since been cut down to 2" (more then likely to use the copper to try another design). Okay that scares the :shhh: out of me - you do not come anyplace near any of my graphic cards nor my mobo's - you are certifiable :yikes: and most definitely worthy of being a BE member.:beer: You never heard of screws or stuff like that?:rotflmao: I am quite sure that you will get 18K single card of that I have no doubt.

Are you saying that a Maze4 will fit onto a GTX card? If so I will give it a go on my card too - I got my temps on the HD down to just 5'C on max load (recall Harley my crazy idea of acetone and dryice in a tub) got some great scores for 05 and 06 but killed my HDD in the process. Guess it is the price you pay for a crazy PCI frequency. :smash:

Oh it is not pretty by any means. :rotflmao: I am sure I could clock higher with it but still a little scared. :hide: As for screws well since I don't have a torch to unbraze the base and make some sort of mount zip ties worked well. I must admit it was a bit frightening when I heard crackling and creaking once down to -60c base temp. :rotflmao: I just pictured the zip ties snapping while running fully loaded and having a bunch of LN2 in it. :yikes: Oh and the maze 4 doesn't fit the bolt pattern fit for an X850 but that required zip ties also. :rotflmao:

As far as the acetone goes like I said give it a try with denatured alcohol (http://scifun.chem.wisc.edu/chemweek/ETHANOL/ethanol.html) (you can mix with water) and you should be able to do -20c or better. ;)

I will be trying something tonight and if all works well I will be shooting for well over 900 core. :eek: If that's the case high 18's and possibley 19k might be doable. :D
