Subsider and I finished my new system (pics coming soon in the proper threads) and I am starting to download some programs for benching. One of the first ones I downloaded was Aquamark. After I install the program and go to launch it, it immediately crashes. This is what it says when I debug it.

AppName: aquamark.exe AppVer: 3.0.0.0 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: b78886ab

I have no other information about why it is crashing. I have uninstalled it, downloaded it from other sites, reinstalled it. Same problem every time. So I am at a loss right now. Anyone have an idea of what I am overlooking?

For those that are going to want my system info: (yes, the system is water cooled)

Additional note that is possibly related:

I am also having crashes with Core Temp versions 94, 95 and the beta 95.4 also. They run great for awhile and then just crash for no reason. I will edit this with the debug info when it crashes on me next time also. I really like the 95.4 version and it does appear to be giving accurate temps while it is running.

You need to replace the direcpll file.

You can download the file here, just put it in your Aquamark folder.. http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/387/Direcpll_for_Aquamark_3.html

Thanks boshuter, I am at work right now and will try it as soon as I get home and no worries Subsider, with everything we have been doing on this build I am suprised that I remember half of what we talk about! That is what the forums are for, Tauvo's questions :D

Have you tried re-installing AM?
Have you made any change to videocard? overclocked videocard ? or changed the PCIe Frequency?

Was there a direcpll file already in the AM3 folder before you downloaded the new one? You need to replace the file thats in there with the new one.

If that doesn't work, try deleting that file altogether and running aquamark, it should run, but not detect your system specs, if that works, you may need to redownload that .dll file from another source.

Edit: all that file does is let AM detect your hardware.

I agree with boshuter. Have you had issues with any other 3d benches?

If you need direcpll file ... You can download here :Direcpll.zip (http://members.cox.net/sbinh/Direcpll.zip)

This one worked fine on my PCs....

3DMark2001 SE, 3DMark03, 3DMark05, 3DMark06 all work and the link to that file is a dead one :irk: and I did get another version of that file from Subsider (im'ing with him now) and still a no go. I even deleted it as suggested. Nope. It does'nt want anything to do with me.

Try uninstalling Aquamark altogether then reinstall it. Replace that file before you try to run the bench.

ok, put 4 more hours into this program. It makes me want to almost :smash: it. If I didn't want to blow it up the RIGHT way by overclocking it I would of done it already by now LOL!

Anyways, all good suggestions so far and no change in anything. Here is the latest info in a text file (if I can actually upload it) for those that might be able to make sense of it. Thank you to everyone so far for riopping their own hair out.

Isn't that the same as deleting it? Renaming it just causes the Program to ignore the file.

100%correct ,also just be aware that you will some times have issues with these corrections when it comes to submissions although that does not matter with aquamark

ok, did everything everyone mentioned at least 2 times each. It still crashes. I downloaded it from several different websites. All check out eventhough some have different names to the files. It still crashes when I launch it.

Now Subsider and I have been talking, I know bad idea right? LOL but he honestly thinks that this may be a video driver problem.

Video card is: GeForce 7800 GTX

and the driver I am using is: 162.18_forceware_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe

Every other program and bench says that the video card is rock solid. Thoughts?

Tauvo welcome and good benching so far - do yourself a favor and download the nVidia driver 158.22 LINK (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_158.22_2.html) I suspect that should sort the issue out. I spent some time on the nVidia forum and saw that there were a number of issues with he 162.18 set of drivers = If you feel comfortable with beta drivers then download the latest beta which is "supposed to" have fixed the bugs in the 162.18 whql driver.

That is my thoughts exacly ! also the 158.22 are the drivers i was using with the 7800GTX and they did quite well .

Yup drivers could definately do it. When using the new drivers just make sure you use an app like driver cleaner so you have no traces of the old driver. :thumb:

I downloaded and tried to install 158.22_forceware_winxp_english2.exe and this is what it said.

"The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatitible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

oooook...next idea?

I would suggest reinstalling your chip-set drivers. I am beginning to thing that they are corrupted. But the best thing would be to save all valuable data and do a format of your HDD and a clean install of OS and all hardware drivers. If that does not do the trick - nuke your PC and claim a new one from the insurance...LOL.

Well, after a few days of trying to figure it out I finally solved it. It was my Kaspersky Anti-Virus (http://www.kaspersky.com) program.

I know that when I install programs or run benchmarks to turn off antivirus. We are drilled that all the time. Well in this case, turning it off is NOT enough. It is still holding settings for "Compatibility Mode" inside of "Kaspersky". Once that box is checked Aquamark worked without a hitch. So how's that for a hoot?
