Would a 1K VR be okay to use for the vgpu mod?
I see the target is around 400 to 500 ohms.
thanks!

Yup 1K is fine. I don't remember if I used a 4 or 500k. What you might want to do is set it to 500 before you solder it. Just remember if you are using a 20 turn trimmer using a 1k pot will make more drastic changes in vcore as you turn. :thumb: On another note. yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shims gonna mod his!!

:D yeah. i'm gonna swing by radioshack and pick up 1 1K VR to do this mod.
i think setting it at 500 ohms is a good idea before i solder it on then i'll slowly adjust it down.
what do you think would be safe for dry ice - 1.45 core?

Saw this at work and forgot to answer when i got home. :hide: I think 1.45 is safe for good air, I run 1.54-1.55 on ice water (I think 1.55 is safe for any water), Depending on the tube will give you your dice temps. Dice is good since you will stay constant and not fluctuate so 1.6 should be no problem 1.63-1.64 and you will see OVP kick in while running tests. I think mine can be set 1.638 max at 1.64 and it almost always hits. :thumb:
Edit: BTW when I ran 881 core I was at -80c or so on gpu. Also if you are running an OCZ card I wouldn't do the vmem mod. Second card now and both hit an easy 1200 with good sinks on them. :thumb:

interesting. i did the vmem mod anyway.
i fell asleep today after dinner and didn't go pick up the 1K VR :(
i'll go get one tomorrow.
i should be ready to bench tomorrow night. i'll get enough to last me until Sunday.
should be an interesting weekend if i can get all this to work.

well forget the vmem mod :)
stock volt is around 1.9-1.95
after i did the mod and tried booting the computer, i saw that the voltage was 0.86!!! :)
i removed it and everything was okay.
yeah hopefully my mem is just as good as yours... 1200 would be sweet

Wow really strange. The cooling solution on the mem helped it. Originally I had some sinks on with thermal tape and it seemed to cap around 1100. This Dtek heatsink block owns. I think I even pulled 1224 on 06. :D
Harley is 1224 memory unusual for 06 and the Ultra? Sorry if it seems a stupid question but my card is at stock and I am running 1200 plus on all of the benchmarks. So hope that means this is a sweet card.
Now huge favour - I would love a detailed photo of the vmod (Ultra not the GTX and the parts list too if possible) as I hope to do it this weekend. I know I am asking a huge amount considering the guides that available at present.

Mine is a GTX. :D I think shims is also but I am not positive. Most Ultras seem to do about 1200 but I have seen exceptions.
Not huge at all the GTX and Ultra mod point is the same from the threads I have seen. I hope to be able to take better photos of mine this weekend.

As for parts I used a 500 Ohm trim pot. The guides suggest a 400 Ohm but i believe it will give you a higher stock voltage although it will allow for finer tuning.
Thanks Jay greatly appreciated.

i'm going to be doing the core mod today so i can take some pics but the ones that Jay provided are really good.
i had issues with my vmem mod yesterday but i don't think i'll try it again. :)
even if i can't bust 1200 i think i'll be able to get a few boints today

Looking forward to it. :thumb: I am not sure how the pics will turn out for me since I think I have about 1/8" of clear nailpolish over the whole area. :rotflmao:
