my wife has a sony vaio RX851 desktop. it has a p42.4b cpu. i put cpuz&MBM5 on her pc so i could get some info(the bios is all locked up :irk: ) then i almost went in to shock!!! cpuz says her vcore is at 2.7v, and MBM5 say's her cpu temp is 92c!!! :look:  :fire: ...can somone tell me what the hell is going on here!!! i didn't oc anything the dang bios won't even let you do anything, so it's all stock just like it came from sony. can this be correct? do 2.4b's need that high of a vcore? what about those temp's that can't be good right??? don't know squat about 2.4b cpu. :smash: :smash: :fire:

i did a quick google query and default voltage is 1.5 volts the quote below is from pcstats.com . as for the bios having a lockout on it like that is stupid as someone in the factory has set the vcore way to high i would suggest getting another motherboard and putting that cpu in to one that you can access the bios so you can get it down or contact sony with an email asking how to access the bios on that pc.
The P4 2.4B runs with a 533 MHz FSB (hence the 2.4B ) which gives the processor up to 4.2 GB/s worth of bandwidth. This is an increase from 1 GB/s of the older 400 MHz FSB Pentium 4 processors.
The 2.4B features 55 million transistors which are etched on an enhanced, shrunken 0.13 micron Northwood Core. The unit we are testing is of the B0 stepping, runs with a default voltage of 1.5V
