Ok I am trying the vmod in this thread. here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=145007) Now for the vgpu they all connect to a shiny pad. I did it by soldering the two connections went fine. The problem is the pad. It just WON'T take solder. I tried heating the pad, dropping solder onto it and just about anything you can think of but it just won't stick. Am I missing something? BTW I can take some easy points once dont #1 for the card is like 10 pt's a test. ;) I already have the DTek Fuzion mounted along with memory sinks. Now I need more voltage. :mischeif:

Edit: also I need to get some suggestions as to where I can purchase a conductive ink pen locally.

Harley..... those pads can be a pita to solder to :smash:

Usually they have a coating on them, I usually scrape off the coating or score it with an exacto knife (it's best if you can scrape the coating off, but scoring it will work). I still have a hard time getting them hot enough to melt with my fine tip soldering iron, make sure you have your iron tip clean and tinned with fresh solder and it should eventually get the pad hot enough to melt.

Thanks I will give it a go. You think acetone will take the coating off? I was afraid of heating too much thinking I would pull the whole pad off. :hide:

I don't know if acetone will work on it or not, the coating is a kind of plastic and it's fairly tough..... if it was me I would try to lightly scrape the pad with a very sharp tool, it's much easier to just score the pad than it is to try to actually scrape that stuff off. It is hard to get a pad like that hot enough to solder to, sometimes I wish I had a larger tip just for things like that ;)
