Hey guys, I just returned from a rather unexpected 2 year "Vacation" I could use some halp as far as what is the way to go now. Ill be freezing the cpu and my gpu will be on water as always. Thanks, SIK

Hey!
Core2Duo with a 680i board and a pair of 8800gtx seem the hot ticket.
Quads I hear do not oc as well as C2D but maybe that is changing (nutcase has posted some screen shots)
Cheers

Some of the initial results I've seen with the p35 chipsets look pretty promising as far as oc'ing the quads goes.

SIK :yikes: :yikes: long time no see just getting things rolling again myself. Depends on the pricetag. I just ordered a MSI P35 mobo since the MSI was the only one I could locate. The 680i would be best for SLI. I believe 12 way power for the cpu which is why the quads should do better. For chips I would go Core2Duo dependind on apps you will be running. 06 sees a big boost from quad core while all other tests seem to do better in dual core. As for cards the 8800 Ultra's a promising but very expensive. I have an issue justifying 800 for a card when the gtx's can be had for around 500. If you want to go ATI the 2900's are looking promising but you might want to wait for the 2900xtx's. ;)

Thanks for the advice. I will be building another monster hopefully. It will be hard to get myself to buy Intel and Nvidia but ya gotta do what you gotta do.:na:

err... there's 3 right there from the vendor...
should have gotten the Asus :hide:
also, stay away from the 2900XT(X) until they move over to 65nm
there's an article somewhere where kinc ran the gpu on LN2 and hit -70C LOAD!!!
in other words, they put out a lot of heat.
i'd go with the 8800gtx or 8800gts
