i am in the process of converting my home videos into DVDs...so far im happy with Pinnacle 8 for miniDV --> DVD (using firewire)..i have tried Ulead, asus dvdcreator..pinnacle wasnt so hard to use..

now i need suggestions for 8mm/hi8 (analog) --->DVD...which program and hardware (capture card) should i use? any tips for enhancing crappy analog videos? .. .i dont want to spend to much on this one..

ty in advance !

Hey jojo.....This isn't my area of expertise as I just use my AIW radeon card for capturing analog but then again I am starting with a better source....

If you don't get the answers here...check out the forums at www.doom9.net as they have a forum just for capturing video....

Good luck....

I use pinnacle 8.5 for my DV camera stuff as well....I have trie ulead but find it a bit more tedious and not user friendly...

i use pinnacle as well. the problem I have with it is that it does
not allow VBR. so, you end up able to put less minutes on a
dvd at high quality. should be able to put at least 90 min at
high quality VBR.

my thought was to dump it to tape after editing, read it back
from tape to one single dv avi file. use tmpgenc to do a VBR
encoding for dvd.

and then? don't know what to do from there...

my home video is 90 min...

with my 90 min miniDVs, i just use 2 dvds to make it easy.. 45 minutes on each..
