Here's a friendly reminder to always make sure you're well insulated if condensation is even remotely possible. RIP my 680i.

do not slip when measuring voltage on a Vmodded Mobo

Dang Nutcase thats a good one!! :smash: That's why I liked the insulated "grabber" electronics probes. :D
Jim: More then likely just another EVGA think i will just take the gf's not gonna be nice about it this time. Give her the Asus and explain to her how cool it will be to have a remote for her pc. ;)

hahaha. that's a good one.
jay - have you thought about getting one of the new eVGA 680i LT mobo's?
they're about $20-$30 cheaper and from what I understand, the only difference between the regular 680i and 680i LT is that the LT does not have linkboost.

Have you seen any? I am on newegg and see A1's, T1's, and TR's

Thanks for the link. I love the idea of individual coolers since I had already planned on changing them out. :mischeif: I think having the avail. digital readout and power/reset buttons make the non-LT be the way for me to go. ;)

Well I killed the P5WDH Deluxe.:(
And after driving all across town looking for someone selling motherboards on a Sunday
I ended up with a Gigabyte DS3 Pro
I wanted another 975 board so I could save my old setup, But they had none.
Windows repair allowed me to get into Windows & save a few things but too many
problems, so I done a Fresh install.
I've got nothing sorted yet, I was just happy the board didn't take the ram or processor with it.:wpleased:

I don't know what killed it. Maybe the overclocking.:mischeif:
I was on a flyer, trying to catch harleybro's score.
There are no obvious burn signs, but I think it is the mosfet beside the floppy
drive plug. All other mosfets read between 7.65K ohm & 8.21K ohm, but that
one just scales up & down wildly. It's near the ram so I assume it's something
to do with it. Might have been what killed my ram
Top Game 22 do you want to measure the one on your board & tell me what you get?
I won't get a chance to see what the new board will do before the weekend.

If you can get me a pic of the mosfet in question and read pts. I can measure one for you when I get home. :thumb:

I might pick up one to replace the "dying" P5N-E .. ... :D :D

Disable everything except "Execute Disable Function"
(The Microcode Updation has no effect that I could see, so you could enable that if you know what it does)
Anything that couldn't be disabled was left on Auto
All voltages to MAX except CPU ( usually 1.6375 )
Slot Power: Heavier
PCI-E Frequency 120MHz
Memory Timings as in this shot http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/8682/yessssxi1.th.jpg (http://img243.imageshack.us/my.php?image=yessssxi1.jpg)

Do you have any problem with DRAM timing by SPD enabled ???
I have to leave it ENABLED in order to OC to 3600 .... As soon as I raise FSB above 400, it won't boot .... This is what I have:
Adv Chipset settings:
DRAM Timing: ENABLED
ECC: DISABLED
Hyper Path 3: DISABLED
Throttling: AUTO
Remap: DISABLED
(Everything else here: default)
CPU Config
Modify: ENABLED
Ratio: 9
Micro: DISABLED
Max CPUIS --> Enhanced : DISABLED
Thermal: AUTO
Virtual....: ENABLED
Speedstep: DISABLED
Config. Freq/Volt
AI: MANUAL
CPU Freq: 400
DRAM Freq: 800
Perform. Mode: AUTO
PCI Exp: 100
PCI Clock Sync: 33.33
vdimm: 2.10v
vcore: 1.4625v
FSB Termiation: 1.4v
MCH: 1.75v
ICH: AUTO
Everything else - default values.

Was able to boot up at 3906Mhz ... but it failed Orthor due to vcore to low ...
I did not want to raise vcore any higher (1.58+v) because of loaded temp.
It passed orthor for 20+hrs @3600 (vcore =1.46+v) ....

not bad.
mine does 3.7 at 1.42 orthos 16+ hours but can't go higher due to heat. sucks big time.

It booted to windows at 4005MHz and ran SuperPI 1M (12.781s) .. but could not run 32M due to CAS... In BIOS, I set timing SPD to ENABLED .. then make change by Memset. Too bad, cannot change CAS in memset ...... :fire: :fire: :fire:

Boot into windows with your highest cas#4 FSB & use systool to raise the FSB from there.:thumb:

I downloaded systool, installed and ran it. However, it could not recognize the board ... :D .... could be that I did NOT install any drivers (including smbus) .... :D
Thanks for the tips......
