Impressive! Thanks for the excellent review Prometheus! I think my next build will be on this board.
Boo Hiss! Nice board, as was the Gigabyte 7N400 Pro, but no four hole mounting system == no H2O cooling :(
Fortunately, Athlon 64 boards include a non-socket type mounting system in the board specs :)
Now, if AMD can just get fast, cheap Athlon 64's out the door

XJ, I had that in my notes, and I apologize for not mentioning it in the review. There are NO mounting holes, so many water cooling systems and large heatsinks just won't work. It's really a shame because there is plenty of room for water blocks. With the tweak options this would have been an incredible board for water setups.

Thanx, that's the review I've been waiting for :) DFI is now officially a big time player in both the Intel and AMD enthusiast markets
Yeah Prom, it looked like a good one, by my wb needs the four mounting holes - nice review though!

if you really want to use a waterblock with this baby, you can use the swiftech mcw-5000a
it doesn't need mounting holes but rather uses the tabs...
and it's not a bad waterblock at all!
:)
I already have one, so it makes more sense right now to choose from boards that have the four mounting holes than ponying up for a new WB, but thanks for the input :)

Nice review..
(BTW, is XJ the same guy from UT2003? I'm {HPG}Chuck heh)
Why is it that the AMD mobo gets the nice looking colored slots when the Intel ones get the disgusting orange??..
Hey Chuck, yeah it's me :)

Is that performance bois from the review still better than the newest version they have out on thier site?

Before I start ranting... Does anybody have the link to where I can download the most recent "performance or beta bios" directly from DFI for the "DFI Lanparty NFII Ultra"???
Now this is my problem... I flashed the "performance bios" that I downloaded from the link in the article... The article was excellent by the way! But nothing seemed to happen... I tried it at first from within Windows XP using Winflash... Then after I saw no difference except for the date of the bios. I flashed again using a floppy this time but all of the menus and selections in the bios appear to be exactly the same as before I flashed it. All I see is the standard settings available that are in the Basic bios that came with the motherboard. Does anybody have any info about how to access the "enhanced menus and selections" in the so called "performance bios"? Another thing is that now when I use the page up and down buttons on the menus within the bios in the area that I am expecting to see the 'enhanced settings' (that are nowhere to be found) where the memory timings are. When I attempt to select 'expert' the bios starts to turn purple and strange ascii charactors appear towards the bottom of the screen everything locks up and I then have to press ctrl-alt-del to get out of there.... The bios seems extremely picky allowing me to only change a few settings at a time or even change them by only so much even if I know that the hardware can definitely handle it. Another thing is that I seem to have to work my way up to settings that I want to adjust step by step. For instance If I know the CPU needs a VCORE of a certain amount I have to move towards that amount bit by bit saing and rebooting in between each and every step or otherwise the motherboard will not start up. I tried over and over just to put in the values that I know will work. But I ended having to change them step by step or else the motherboard with not start up and then I have to reset the bios using the "clear CMOS jumper" which is easier said than done because "clear CMOS" jumper is in the worst place that I can imagine placing it on the motherboard. Everytime you change some settings in the bios and it doesn't work out I have to remove all pci cards out of the pci slots to get to the "clear CMOS jumper". . I tried setting everything up without the pci cards in but when i turned off the power ie: unplugged the power cable after everything was optimised and tweaked in order to safely put the pci cards back into the motherboard it would not start up. My Abit NF7-S is so much easier to work with because it resets to basic settings if something is not right without having to clear the CMOS jumper. I like everything else about this board exept for this... but if I can't figure this out I may have to return it :) Not sure if I need a replacement or if I should just get something else... Any help or info would be greatly apreciated :)

Welcom to BE solarlove
The link below will take you to the DFI download page for your board.
http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/bios_download_us.jsp?PRODUCT_ID=1524&CATEGORY_TYPE=null&STATUS_FLAG=A
As for the other troubles your having, I'm going leave that to one of our members who has actually used this board.
Hope the BIOS link helps. :)

Here is the latest (special)bios i have for the DFI NF2 Ultra.
Also before you flash to this make sure you switch off bios flash protection in the present bios or the file will not flash.
You will find this in the same section as the cpu overclocking features.
hope this helps.
Grab the bios here (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ad.leach/modded%20bios%20files/NFII0709.zip)
