Hard drive failures

hey guys, I have a oldie HD a MAXtor 541dx 5400 rpm 20gb hard drive here. when I whant to use it as a slave or master, the system doesnt reconice the HD. in fact I was use it for long time. what happened, any ideas, does this maxtror HD have critics? can i restore it?

If it is that old, it may not support UDMA. You might have to change back to PIO mode and make sure your newer drive jumpers are set correctly also…..ie, change it from “cable select” to master or slave.

It may slow your system down but if you’re just after the data it may help.

I’m by no means a drive expert, so lets see what some of the other folks say ok. :o :help:
