Here is my delimma. I have recently installed ram sinks to my 9600 Pro and I also have a Iceberq4 Pro laying here. Now I went ahead and took the factory HSF off and applied AS ceramique to the core and re-installed the factory HSF. My question is, would it be better to leave it this way or install the Iceberq4 Pro with AS alumina compound. I am not sure how well this stuff works, but the only testing I have seen done was on the lostcircuit website. The ceramique performed better that the regular AS 5. I didn't see anything about the epoxy compound though.
I understand the Iceberq is a better cooler, but what about the thermal epoxy compound, How well does it really work?

I’d say, if your not having any heat related problems the stock cooler should work fine, unless of course you count the coolness factor. :D :thumb:
Having said that, the Iceberq4 Pro will give you lower temps and in doing so, it might help with OCing your video card.
Arctic thermal epoxy does work well, but it is normally used on more specialized chips, like the PWM chips, South bridge, Memory….etc. Caution must be advised, because once it hardens, it’s damn near permanent. More then one person has ripped a chip from their motherboard trying to get a heat sink off.

I had been told all I had to do is put the card in a zip lock bag, throw it in the freezer for about 30 minutes and twist off the HSF. I have never personally used the stuff, so I figured I would ask before I go ripping some chips off. Thankyou for the reply, Maybe I'll try the easy way and order a HSF that fits my card.

I have been told the same also, but I would very cautious trying to remove the heat sink. ;)

I guess if all else fails and I pulled the core chip off, I could let my dog chew on it!!! what great pics that would be.
I can see the title now : If You Thought Heat Was The Only Core Killer, Take A Look At This Beast!!!!
:yikes:
Maybe I could train my dog to kill PC's. Then I could have a chance to win the BE memory contest, :mischeif:

My pooch will eat anything since he's on a diet to lose a few pounds off his slim 130lb figure. Now I need a decent digital camera.

How far off are the mount holes on the Pro 4?
Think you would be able to mod it to fit?

All it would take is a little cutting on the edge, where the holes are now. The holes are probably an inch to far apart, over all. It looks just like the Iceberq 4 for the radeons only the holes are wider. So with a dremel and a drill it could be modded to fit. I had thought about doing that, just haven't had the time.
