I know there are alot of previous owners of this mobo here. I have recently updated the bios from 1011 to 1015. I am running PJ's 2.53 @ 178(3382) 1:1 mem. I have gotten up as far as 183 but couldn't get 3d2001 to finish, kept reseting back to dektop. I think that is a heat problem. My main concern is running the memory with 3:4 ratio. I had a 512 stick of kingmax pc3200 in there that could only do around 153 with 3:4. I figured it was cheap memory. Now I have one of PJ's OCZ PC3500EL that also won't go over 153 at 3:4. Tried vdimm up to 2.9 and 2.5,3,3,7 timings for both sticks. I'm beginning to think its the new bios but would like a little input from the pros before I go back to 1011. When I restart the machine over 153 3:4 all I get is that most annoying long beep in an endless loop(no dram installed according to manual). Any help would be appreciated. TIA

well us old guys never made it to 1015 bios so we cant comment on that ;)
forget 3:4 ratio ~ the board will only goto about 450ddr stable, no matter what the ratio.
id suggest raising the vagp and only use a 2.7v max vdimm in 1:1. (2.9v tends to overheat the board)
use all 3 power plugs on the board for more stable voltage.
use ram slot1 and only 1 stick of ram.

Thanks for the reply Thugs. What do you mean by "all three power plugs." ATX, EZ plug, and something else????

You have the ATX plug plus the square P4 four pin plug and the EZ plug that looks like one of the power supply plugs.Take a look at this pic here click on mobo to enlarge http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=P4B533&langs=09# .You will see one stright up from the northbridge behind the Lan or USB connection (P4 Plug). From that plug look stright far right near the corner you will see the plug that looks like a power supply plug (EZ Plug) and down below around the middle you have the ATX plug.

Thanks Lastride. I gotcha now. I just always thought that you either used the square pin or the ez-plug individually, not together. I'll give it a shot.

Usually you do only use 2.The ATX and the Square 4 pin P4 plug. The EZ plug is for if your power supply doesn't have the P4 plug.Always use the P4 and and atx plug, not EZ plug and atx.Connecting all three can "possibly" improve stability,it won't hurt anything. All you can do is try all three and see if it helps or not.
