i got a p4p800 deluxe up and running with a 3.06 and a prometeia. i had some issues getting this thing to work in the prommie at first but now everything seems cool. i think i may have gotten some as3 on a trace but i don't know for sure but anyway it is up and running. a few things about my system i am running 1008 final, 168 fsb with 1.72 v-core and i have corsair xms3200 cas rev 1.1. i was hoping to hit 4 gig but i just cant do it and this the second i 3.06 i have tried the other went to hardware heaven along with the 8inxp it called home. but 168fsb as plenty fast:) ok i have noticed that my ram is limiting me from running 2,2,2,5 at the 2.5 divider it will boot and i can run benchies but prime95 will fail in a short time. but the strange thing is the sandra score are very close to running 1to1 at 2,2,2,5 so i have no clue what is up with that. i also have the performance on turbo and it did make increase the sandra score but MAM did not do much but that was not a surpise because of the northwood b. i have noticed that this northbridge is hot and i don't know if it should be hot to the touch running only at 168 fsb. i may put a fan close by it just to get some airflow over it. but i would like to hear from others to see if there northbridge gets hot also just to see if i have a issue or not. but the via raid controller seems to work well so i think i am pleased. i was expecting more performance from this board, at 168fsb my 8inxp would run a lower pi time but oh well. anyway any input people have for me would be great. i do have my sticks in the black slots BTW.

I ran a 2.4B chilled in the p4p800 and found and discovered a few things.
The northbridge needs a better HSF on it.
running 4:5 was faster but ONLY by a very small amount.
The clockgen gets hot also and I found active cooling the NB and clockgen raised my final clock a little.
Also running 4 matched modules IS faster than just 2.
And the big one is make sure you not getting any condensation on the board or the cpu.

BT,
thanks for the info, i will be putting a fan by the northbridge to try to gblow some heat of it. and as far as condensation goes i took my time making the seal and i guess time will tell how well i did. seeing how i run my box 24/7 the idea of condensation does still bother me. thanks again.

well it seems like i had a major malfunction. the board just took a dump, and when it happened the northbridge was so hot i could barely touch it. i will rma it and hope i get a good board in return, but i had issues when i first got the board and it would not post on a reboot and the northbridge was very hot then too. but i was able to run this board with folding running for over 24 hours with no problems and the northbridge was only warm to the touch and i started playing a game and 10 minutes into it the system froze and it never woke up and like i said the northbridge was smokin hot. the vocal post says failed cpu test but i still think my cpu is good but i guess you never know. i have just had a very bad hardware month and i just hope it gets better:( i am kinda want to take the heatsink of the northbridge to investigate but i will not just incase it messes up the rma. i still look foward to getting another p4p800 because it seems nice and fast when it worked:)

When you get your new board you really do need to get better cooling on the northbridge.Mine gets very hot and causes masses of instability while overclocking very hard.I push 20+cfm over it and all seems well.

BT,
i will putting on some active cooling, that is for sure. i just sent my board back to newegg this morning so i should have another one in no time. but the northbridge heat still has me puzzeled, my first crash with the board happened after i loaded windows and all the windows updates, maybe 2 hours and like i said the northbridge was smokin when it happened and the was running 133 fsb. so do you think that the heat from the northbridge is because of the use of a northwood b cpu?
whether b or c cpu it shouldn't matter.Only when really overclocked does the nothbridge on my boards get real hot..looks like yours may have been faulty.
