Hey, im getting a 2.8C intel processor and a Abit IS7 mobo, and im undecided on which memory to get. Im planning on getting a gig of it whatever it is. At first i was planning on getting Kingstong HyperX PC3500, but i dont know if i should be getting PC3700 cuz maybe its more future proof. I dont plan on overclocking the 2.8C right now, but in the future maybe when it gets a little sluggish i probably will.

So any recomendations of what RAM i should get that will last. I've set aside a good amonut of money, 320$, for 2 sticks of 512 ram. So anything around there or lower of course, is good

That article focused mostly on PC3200 and PC3500, but im pretty sure i only want to get PC3500 or PC3700, i jsut dont know which to get. Here are a few ive been thinking about.

Kingston HyperX PC3500, Corsair XMS PC3500, Corsair XMS PC3700, OCZ PC3500 Performance Memory, and OCZ PC3700 Performance Memory.

ALso is OCZ dual channel gold edition any different than their performance Memory?? I know they have a 2x256 PC3700 modules of it, but not 2x512 modules, i wont be buying this for a few weeks, so when that comes out i might consider that also.

What do you guys think?

If you wnat to run at 1:1 then you might look into 3700 but that is going to cost. if you're looking at running 5:4 then you could save some money by getting 3500. (someone in the know wana jump in here) :)

Check out some of the reviews on the Main Page (http://www.bleedinedge.com/), the guys roll through some different brands during testing, might help you out some.

Should i get PC-3500 or PC-3700

And which company wold you recomend out of these- Kingston (for the PC3500, doesnt make PC3700 yet i think), Corsair, and OCZ

If u want the max fsb oc (up to 250mhz +) but not the lowest timings, get OCZ pc3700 gold. For up to 230mhz oc with low timings get Corsair pc3500.
That's my 2 cents... :)

thanks Eva:

Problem is, i'd like to get 2 512mb sticks of that stuff...but its only in 256mb flavor right now...any other companies that have good quality PC3700 RAM? or you think i should wait for OCZ to come out with some 512mb sticks.

On Newegg they have this though:

OCZ DDR PC-3700 Performance Memory 512MB Model# OCZ466512EL OCZ DDR 512MB PC-3700 Enhanced Latency Series w/ Copper heatspreader, highest performing memory for speed enthusiasts, CAS2.5 DDR 466Mhz memory, Lifetime Warranty

Is this much worse than the Gold Memory??

Edit: by the way guys, im putting all this in an Antec Sonata case..they seem pretty cool...but do you guys think temps will be ok in that case?? it only comes with one stock 120mm exhaust fan. It has an optional place for another 120mm fan that is supposed to intake, but where it is mounted i dont think it will be too much help. What do you guys think? Could i run my 2.8C at 233FSB with PC3700 ram and have safe temps?
